How to Say Goodbye by Amber Lin

I finished How to Say Goodbye by Amber Lin. What can I say about this book. I first off have to say how beautifully done the story was done. It truly is a wonderful story. However, it has a very somber tone. Here's why:

When you first meet Amy we find out she's highly intelligent, yet social awkward and emotionally stunted. She's completely aware of her inability to connect and she wishes she was normal. So, you automatically feel for her. Then she meets Dane who she's attractive and whats to be able to express herself with him. However, it takes her a while to learn to open to him. At the same time Dane is keeping a huge chuck of his past and himself from her. There relationship is a slow building one. I love how Dane starts to change for Amy and wants to be worthy of her. At the same time, he's helping Amy to open more and learn to be receptive to others.

As I said How to Say Goodbye is a wonderful story. However, it has a somber feel. You will feel for Amy. You will hope that Dane and Amy are able to make it, because there are a couple of times Dane tries to push her away. The start will take a little time to get into the story, but it does pick up towards the end. So, if you don't mind a somber feel, you might give How to Say Goodbye a try.
