Audiobook Review: Party Games by RL Stine

After finishing You May Now Kill the Bride I was still on an RL Stine kick. Okay more along the lines of Fear Street, so I decided to give Party Games a go.

We have Brendan Fear who is a wiz at video games, and loves to program them. He also throws amazing birthday bashes. Rachel Martin has a crush on Brendan Fear, and is totally stoke when she gets invited to the big birthday bash. That's when things turn a little weird for Rachel and Brendan.

Okay, Party Games kept me on my toes. I liked the story. However, it was a decent read or listen. Would I check this story out again? Probably not. The funny thing is I actually bought this book for my daughter, because I wanted her to try out RL Stine. There is a book two and I might try it out, but I think I might hold off on the story.

Audiobook Review: You May Now Kill the Bride by RL Stine

I have been in a reading slump, and actually still kind of am. So, I decided to checkout something I would have read as middle schooler. Yes, I was a huge fan of RL Stine. I absolutely loved the Fear Street series, which was amazing. I was sad when he kind of stop writing those stories, and focus on Goosebumps. I couldn't get into them, because they weren't scary as the Fear Street. RL Stine has return to Fear Street. I happen to stumble upon this audio version of You May Now Kill the Bride, a Return to Fear Street book.

I'm not going to lie, the nostalgia hit hard. It made remember why I love this series. Granted it's not as good as the previous Fear Street books, but still worth the time.

So, the story is broken into parts. We have the past and how the curse was established. Then we move to the present time. Then we head back to the past to fix the past. The first past and present have a similar situation that happens. One of the protagonists needs to fix the situation before the past repeats itself. There were a few times I need to take a moment to group myself. However, I was able to finish the story.

Overall, I enjoyed You May Now Kill the Bride. Yes, I was loving the nostalgic feel of living my teens again. I love that it gave me a little scare and a nice ending. I wouldn't really say a happy ending, but a satisfy ending. Yes, the issue does get fix and it was pretty cool to watch play out in my mind. I also love the cover of the story. Pretty and sinister. Not as good as the past books, but I think it's a good start for creating a new generation to fall in love with Fear Street.

Forbidden: The Soulkeepers by Lori Adams

When I started reading Lori Adams Forbidden: The Soulkeepers, I was a little worry. Yes, worry. Why you ask? I was thinking I got myself into a Twilight kind of story, but with angels and demons. I have valid reasons for thinking this: 1) It takes place in high school 2) We have to guys vying for the heroine's attention 3) The hero basically tells the heroine stay away from me. Basically thrusting her into the other guys arms. However, my perspective started to change once I started to get more into the story. I still felt that it was Twilight-esque, but not so much. All right here we go:

We have Sophia St. James. She just moved to a whole new area and she's trying to figure her way through. She's dubbed "the Pastor's daughter" right away. Anyway, she meets Michael. She feels this instant connection, and he feels too. However, he can't do anything about it cause of his guardian angel status. He tries to avoid her the best of his abilities. Then Dante steps onto the scene. Now Dante and Sophia use to be an item way back when before he thrust down to hell. Now he's trying to get her back, because he loves her so much. So, you have this awkward love triangle going on. So, Dante trying everything in his power to get her back.

Okay, that was the simplest way to sum up the story. Basically you have good verses evil throughout the story. Michael and his family don't know what to think of Sophia. However, Dante and his crew are trying everything to get Sophia. I'm was surprise that I actually found myself enjoying the story, because I don't do well with high school drama. I think what did it for me, was more of the good trying win over evil. By the time I got to end of the story I was ready for more and I'm actually excited to see what happens next.

Overall, I believe those who enjoyed Twilight might actually enjoy this trilogy. So, if you are looking for a story that has angels going against demons and fighting over who should have the girl, you might consider reading Forbidden: The Soulkeepers a try. Seriously, I was surprise that I liked the story.

The Medium by C.J. Archer

Most of y'all were probably at a BBQ, cookout, or whatever you do on the Fourth of July. Not me. I actually was a homebody yesterday and decided to read a book. Ok, I didn't  stay indoors the whole day I actually went to a couple of stores, but that's beside the point. So, by spending most of my day indoors I got to read a fun book that made me think of the Ghost Whisperer. Which by the way was my favorite show, but it was after it came to its conclusion 2010; you gotta love re-runs. While most of you were preparing your celebrations I was reading The Medium, which is the C.J. Archer's new book which is set in Victorian England.

Emily Chambers is a girl in the 1880 who has a special talented, which is she can speak to ghost. After all, that would freak some people; what am I talking about the ability to speak to ghost would freak a lot of people out. Even though her talent freaks a lot people out, she is still called to help love ones and there ghost to move on. During one of there séance, her sister accidentally unleashes an evil demon to heart of London. By doing this, Emily ends up with a little help from the other side by the name Jacob Beaufort. While they are demon hunting Emily starts to fall in love with Jacob. Loving a ghost makes things kinda of complicated.

Since this is the start of a new series, I really like it. I hope that we get to see more of Jacob Beaufort in the series, because he's an interesting ghost with an interesting back story that still needs to be uncover. I love how outspoken Emily is, but when you talk to ghost I guess you need to be an outspoken kinda gal. I look forward to reading more adventures of Emily Chambers.

Grasping at Eternity by Karen Amanda Hooper

Another adventure out of the Regency period. Gasp, I know. Yep, this time my adventure is off to a new young adult book. Today's review is on Grasping at Eternity. I was amazed on how much I liked the story. I would call this book the essences of true love.

We have two main characters that have been together for many lifetimes. However, Maryah has no recollection of her previous lives with Nathaniel and the other kindrily. Nathaniel is coping with a broken heart and wondering why Maryah has erased her memories of their life together.

A sweet story of soulmates and everlasting love. As I said at the beginning I liked the story, I would even say love the story. Since this is the first book in the Kindrily series, I'm so excited to see more books to come out. However, I need to learn patience, because I have to wait. I hope that you will go check out this book, because it was such a wonderful read.
