Wildfire: Spotlight + Review: The Lying Hours by Sara Ney

The Lying Hours

How to Date a Douchebag, 5

Sara Ney
May 7, 2019

ABRAHAM DAVIS—Honest Abe to his friends—IS IN OVER HIS HEAD...

He’s a fixer and a do good-er. The all-knowing, resident "grandfather" on the wrestling team who everyone relies on to fix their problems. His teammates go to him for everything; advice, homework, or when they need a sober driver at three in the morning--whether he likes it or not.

Abe’s current mission is easy: mend his roommates broken heart by helping him find a girlfriend on the LoveU app--without getting caught in the lie...

SKYLAR GABRIEL. IS. OVER. IT.

Over her bad grades. Over her meddling older brother and his two best friends. And over dating douchebags. What she wants to know is: where have all the nice guys gone?

She longs for a handsome, sweet, and honest guy who can make her laugh. In one last ditch effort to prove that he exists—Skylar turns to LoveU.

On her worst day, Skylar has no filter (it’s a miracle she hasn’t been ditched mid-date).

On her best, she’s as wholesome, and sweet, as pie.

On Thursday? She matches with Abraham Davis’s roommate.

Skylar Gabriel is falling for the wrong guy—she just doesn’t realize it yet.

Why?

BECAUSE ABE DAVIS IS A LIAR.

InkSlinger PR Review + Excerpt: Love, Sincerely, Yours by Sara Ney & Meghan Quinn

LOVE, SINCERELY, YOURS
Sara Ney & Meghan Quinn
October 9, 2018

Dear Mister...**strike out** no, too formal. Hey there sweet cheeks *strike out* no, too forward.

To whom it may concern, Full disclosure; before we move forward with this email, I would like it to be known that I have consumed an adequate amount of alcoholic beverages to intoxicate myself tonight. Three margaritas, two shots, and one beer—because it was free. I think it’s important to be open and honest with your co-workers, don’t you?

So here I am, being honest. Drunk but honest. Or just drunk with lust? You decide.

I like you so much it’s clouding my judgment and making me do things I never would sober. Like write this letter.

I have a hopeless, foolish, schoolgirl crush on you when you are the last person on earth I should be falling for. Did you know people around the office call you a sadist? An egomaniac. An insensitive, arrogant prick. Your bark is worse then your bite, and you don’t scare me. The fact is, I’d love that bite of yours to nip at my bare skin while we’re both wearing nothing but sheets.

For once I want you to look at me as more than one of your employees.

And as long as we're being honest, that navy blue suit you wear? With the crisp white shirt? It really makes me want to loosen your tie and show you who’s boss.

Love
Sincerely
Yours.

InkSlinger PR Review + Excerpt: The Coaching Hours by Sara Ney

The Coaching Hours
How to Date a Douchebag, 4
Sara Ney
February 5, 2018

THERE ARE NO DOUCHEBAGS IN THIS STORY.

Well, there are, but they’re not who this story is about.

This story is about me—the coach’s daughter.

When I moved to Iowa to live with my dad, the university's take-no-prisoners wrestling coach, I thought transferring would be easy as pie—living with my father would be temporary, and he'd make sure his douchebag wrestlers left me alone.

Wrong on both counts.

ASSHOLES ALWAYS COME OUT OF THE WOODWORK WHEN THE STAKES ARE HIGH.

A bet is placed, and I'm on the table. After one humiliating night and too much alcohol, I find the last nice guy on campus. And when he offers to rent me his spare bedroom, I go all in. It’s time for the nice guy to finish first.

Midnight chats and spilling my problems turn to lingering touches. Lingering touches turn to more.

And the ultimate good guy has the potential do more damage than any douchebags ever could.

InkSlinger PR Audio Review + Excerpt : The Learning Hours by Sara Ney

THE LEARNING HOURS
How to Date a Douchebag, 3
By Sara Ney
September 26, 2017

He's not a douchebag; but that doesn't stop his friends from turning him into one.

MY FRIENDS WANT ME TO GET LAID.

So much so that they plastered my ugly mug all over campus, in bold printed letters:

Are you the lucky lady who's going to break our roommate's cherry?
Him: socially awkward man with average-sized penis looking for willing sexual partner. You: must have a pulse. He will reciprakate with oral. Text him at: 555-254-5551

The morons can't even spell. And the texts I've been receiving are what wet dreams are made of. But I'm not like these douchebags, no matter how hard they try to turn me into one.

THIS ISN'T THE KIND OF ATTENTION I WANT.

One text stands out from hundreds. One number I can't bring myself to block. She seems different. Hotter, even in black and white.

However, after seeing her in person, I know she's not the girl for me. But my friends won't let up--they just don't get it. Douchebags or not, there's one thing they'll never understand: GIRLS DON'T WANT ME.

Especially her.

Confessions of a Former Puck Bunny by Cindi Madsen (Review)

Can I say that Confessions of a Former Puck Bunny was pretty funny. I haven't read a Cindi Madsen book that wasn't fun. Anyway, we are taking a journey along the rocky relationship of Lindsay Rivera and Ryder "Ox" Maddox. Now Lindsay use to be a puck bunny. However, after getting burn she decided to reform her ways. Her focus is on school and work, aka no fun in life. Is this going to stop Ryder, oh no he wants a chance with Lindsay and he'll do it anyway he can even tutor her in math.

I have to give Ryder props for sticking with Lindsay even when she's being challenging. Lindsay faces some challenges,  one being her mother and the fear becoming like her. Then we have Ryder who doesn't care where Lindsay comes from, but wants to be with the person who she is now.

Confessions of a Former Puck Bunny is a pretty straightforward story. You have the hockey player who wants the girl. The girl who doesn't want to go back to where she use to be. Now how are they going to make this work. However, there are a couple of surprises along the way which do popup, and I have to say I didn't see them coming. Yet, they make total sense. Overall, Confessions of a Former Puck Bunny is a pretty fun read, but at the same time got me. If you are in the mood for a little fun and chase, you might give this a try.

Mine For Now by Erika Kelly (Review)

A little late for my thoughts on Mine For Now, but I still stand by my quick thoughts on the story. Yes, Dylan has the hardest time leaving the past behind even tho he has a chance to break free. However, he's hinder by his own guilt. Then we have Nicole who is very sunshine and daisies. You would never guess that she had suffer from abuse, but she was able to move to a certain point.

Mine For Now is an eye-opening book on the impact of addiction and the havoc it can cause on a family. One of the hardest thing to do is to let go of family members, but you want to save them. However, that isn't your choice to save them, but they have to come to that conclusion. Dylan faces this challenge during the story and he struggles with his family. While at the same time he wants to pursue something with Nicole, but he fights his attraction with her.

Emotionally rough to say the least, but good. Watching these two trying to make a go at something special is hard, because you watch Dylan get sucked in the vortex of his family turmoil. You truly wonder if Dylan will let his family drama consume him. Nicole is a doll. I like how she tries to help Dylan, but I think her family does a better job at this. Overall, Mine For Now is a pretty good read. Gut-wrenching, yep, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. I can't wait to see what happens next cause something happens in the story that leads to the next story.

Do nice guys always finish last? In the new Extreme Risk novel from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Tracy Wolff, a burnt-out underdog and a vulnerable tomboy defy the pressure to be perfect and go after what they really want.

Bighearted and easygoing, Luc Jennings is falling behind in a family of serious overachievers. While he may be decent enough at snowboarding to turn pro and rack up some sponsors, he’s never topped any podiums—unlike his friends Z, Ash, and Cam. Luc’s always been head over heels for Cam Bradley, but she’s never seen him as anything more than a friend. Now, after years of coming in second, Luc can’t take it anymore—especially if it means watching Cam chase another guy.

Cam’s wildest dreams have a way of coming true—except when it comes to getting her longtime crush and best friend, Z Michaels, to notice her. Then her mother suddenly shows up after being gone for, like, ever, and Cam’s whole world comes crashing down. Desperate for a place to lay low, she turns to the one person who’s always had her back.

Try as he might to move on, Luc could never leave Cam hanging. He lets her crash at his place—and it isn’t long before she winds up in his bed. With Cam running scared and her icy facade starting to melt at last, Luc’s determined to finally win the only prize that matters.

InkSlinger PR Blog Tour + Review + Giveaway: Sex On The Beach Series

ChasingMe_Final

CHASING ME by Jennifer Probst

BOOK SUMMARY:

Quinn and James' Story Continues in Chasing Me...

It was supposed to be a love story....

I knew she was out of my league but I didn’t care. Looking back, I wonder if I hadn’t pursued her, would things have turned out differently? Is it Fate that determines our choices in life? God? Free will? Or just plain old innate selfishness?

I got her, of course. There hadn’t been a girl I wasn’t able to seduce. Problem was she seduced me right back, body, mind, and soul. She possessed me, tormented me, and showed me a world that was so bright and pure I was almost blinded.

Didn’t she know after such a drug I could never settle for less? Didn’t she realize no matter how many times I screwed up, or broke her heart, or bent her to my will, I’d never be able to let her go? If I hadn’t known such intensity existed, would it have been better for both of us?

True love, the real kind, isn’t nice and sweet and pure. No, it’s dirty, and sinful, and messy. It’s like ripping a chunk of flesh from your body and watching yourself bleed out in slow, helpless intervals until you thankfully pass out.

This isn’t a love story. But it’s the only story I got.

Elicit by Rachel Van Dyken (Review)

Whoa! It's been a while since, I decided finishing a book was more important than sleep. Granted I have done that these past few months, but this was a choice I had to finished the book. I don't know why it took me so long to read Rachel Van Dyken's Elicit, because I have loved the series since book Elite. I just decided I needed to read Elicit.

At the end of Entice, a lot of things went down. Let's just get it out there the drama just explodes. So, we have Tex and he has become the head honcho, so there will be many out to get him. After all Campisi, and sometimes blood will be thicker than water. Mo finds out that Tex is in danger, so a plan was created to save him. Basically it boils down on how Tex and Mo handle the situation.

Oh my goodness, I don't know where to beginning with my thoughts, because it was awesome. Seriously, there is drama galore. Not only that we have a lot of POV of views going on in this story that feed into the drama. At certain times I wasn't sure how Mo and Tex were ever going to be together, because so much subterfuge going on that it got me going "What the hell?" However, the Elicit grabbed me and wouldn't let go with me. I tried to put the damn book down, but I had to know how the chaos that was beginning was going to end. There is so much, I want to say, but at the same time I can't.

Basically, a gripping story. I'm going to say this again this is a series thats needs to be started from the beginning, because the story builds off each book. You could start Elicit without reading the others, but it's not advise. Now I need to get to Ember, so I could talk about one particular character.

Live Like You Mean It by Ava Stone (Review)

I finished reading Live Like You Mean It by Ava Stone. All right, we all know how much I love Ava's writing and a big fan of her historicals. Well, she has started to branch out in the new adult world. This is the first book in her new series. It's not bad and I have remember it's the first book in the series. Sometimes we need to find some footing and establish some characters for future stories.

First off, I like both Leah and Brody. Both of them come from two different worlds. Leah use to be wild and crazy, and we know this cause her choices in life left her with a child that she is now raising. While Brody is this rocker and aiming for the big times and he might get his chance. However, he has to decide if fame and fortune is what he really seeks.

I like how the book is written in dual POV, so we get to hear both Leah and Brody's thoughts and feelings. I respect Leah for letting Brody pursue his career, and he almost ruins his chance on true happiness. So, most of the book is pretty happy go lucky for Leah and Brody, and I was honestly waiting for something bad to happen. I know it's rotten of me. However, the drama didn't really happen until last 30% of the book. I believe that's the point where Ava started to find her footing. I did like the story, but I think I would have liked more drama. Crazy, I know. However, I was kind of curious about other characters in the story and what's going to happen to them. For instance, Brody's bandmates are an interesting bunch. We have: Daniel, but we don't know much about him. Cade, he's an absolute mess, and I don't know how she's going to redeem him. I'm not going to lie he intrigues me, because he's a mess. Jason, he's painted like a douche in the eyes of the band, but he has a lot going on in his life. Which I'm curious how it's going to effect him in the long run. Leah's brother was another character that caught my eye. He's also Jason's best friend. There are a few other characters I'm curious to see what happens.

Overall, not bad. You all just need to remember Live Like You Mean It is a first book, and sometimes they are little rocky. As I said I'm looking forward to see what happens in the series and how it all plays out. Ha.

Until You Find Me # 1
By: Amber Hart
Releasing November 11th, 2014
Loveswept: Flirt

Blurb
Amber Hart pushes contemporary romance to its wildest limits in this heart-pounding novel, the story of a girl who travels to Africa to protect the legacy of one man . . . and stays for the love of another.

Raven Moore, a twenty-year-old college student from Michigan, feels out of place in the beautiful, treacherous jungles of Cameroon, staying in the habitat where her father gave his life to help protect endangered gorillas. He left home years ago; now Raven refuses to return home until she unravels the truth about his last days.

Raven certainly doesn’t count on crossing paths with a handsome young hunter—especially one as charismatic and intense as Jospin Tondjii. Instantly, she’s hooked. But Jospin is hiding a dark truth: He is the heir to a powerful poaching empire, part of a ruthless black market that is responsible for the dwindling gorilla population.

Their fathers may have been enemies, but Raven and Jospin forge a bond that goes beyond blood, a relationship that is tested as Raven draws closer to the source of her father’s death. Can she and Jospin bear the weight of the secrets of the wild—and the secrets of their pasts? Or will the rain forest destroy them both?
