Forever Romance Top 5 + Review + Giveaway: Mistletoe Cottage by Debbie Mason

Debbie's Top 5 Songs That Inspire You To Write Mistletoe Cottage

1)The Tenors’ “Who Wants to Live Forever” with Lindsey Stirling is one of the songs I listened to every morning before sitting down to write Mistletoe Cottage. It fits the book perfectly, and not only because Liam and Sophie’s story opens on Halloween.

2)It doesn’t matter which book I’m writing; I listen to “Fight Song” by Rachel Patten. It’s like the anthem for all my heroines and Sophie’s no exception.

3)Gerard Butler singing “Galway Girl” in P.S. I Love You inspired the win-the-girl scene at the Salty Dog in which Liam performs for Sophie.

4)Sophie sang and Mia mimed “Let it Go” from Frozen in one of my favorite scenes in Mistletoe Cottage. Letting it go was also something Sophie had to do if she and Liam were going to get their second chance.

5)I don’t want to give anything away, but one of the songs I listened to while writing the end of Mistletoe Cottage was “Marry Me” by Train.

He's one bad apple she just can't resist…

Kennedy Sinclair never dreamed she'd own a pie shop and an orchard in a small town like Destiny Bay. But nestled between the mountains and the Pacific Ocean, it's the perfect place to cross something off her "Life's short so eat the icing first" list and start her life over from scratch. Her shop, Sweetie Pies, is famous for its hot, flaky apple turnovers and sinfully delicious deep dish pie. For Kennedy though, nothing is more enticing than the tall, strapping slice of temptation who keeps coming back for more.

Luke Callahan is determined to make his hard cider business a success. With his beloved father's cider recipe and the opportunity of a lifetime in his grasp, he'll stop at nothing to get this deal done. There's just one catch: he needs Kennedy's apples. At first, he thinks it'll be as easy as pie to charm those apples right off her trees. But Kennedy isn't falling for his tender charms or his wicked ways. When the negotiations start heating up, so do the feelings they have for each other. And it takes just one kiss to seal the deal…

Forever Romance Top 5 + Excerpt + Giveaway: Taste of Sugar by Marina Adair

Top 5 Things Every Respectable Southern Lady Needs according to Babette Holden

1.     Pearls. Every respectable lady needs a strand of pearls. Preferably, ones passed down from a great great relative whose name comes from a flower, a spice, or a biblical do-gooder.

2.     A blue-ribbon pie recipe. The best way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, and the best way to impress his mama is with a prize winning homemade pie.

3.     A ring. Heirloom, diamond, and big enough to catch the attention of every other lady in town, but not so big as to be boastful.

4.     A devoted mother who loves and cherished her daughter—and in times of doubt can steer her daughter in the right direction, which is always the direction that leads to the alter.

5.     Above all else, a true respectable southern lady needs a husband

Forever Romance Book Blitz + Guest Post (Top 5) + Giveaway: A Scoundrel by Moonlight by Anna Campbell

Good morning everyone! Today is a fun day! I was able to ask Anna Campbell The Top 5 Places Where Your Heroes would Like to Have a Tryst? So, I'm going to let Anna take over:

So here’s the top 5 places where my heroes like to have a tryst:

1.     If anyone’s read my books, you know there’s nearly ALWAYS a nookie/nearly nookie scene in the library. What can I say? I like big bookshelves and I cannot lie! And aristocratic libraries are full of all sorts of wonderful furniture like chaises-longues and library tables and ladders that get the imagination (and the characters!) going.

2.     The summerhouse. One of the fun things about writing Regencies is that I get to give my characters huge estates full of gardens and woodlands and lakes – and summerhouses. A secluded garden folly seems just the right place for some secluded garden folly between my hero and heroine.

3.     The bedroom suite in the stately home. What’s not to love about four posters and fireplaces and elaborate furniture? There’s always plenty of room for discarding one’s clothing in the bedrooms in my books!

4.     An upmarket set of rooms in an inn. I’ve used this one a few times, sometimes because my hero and heroine are travelling after their wedding and sometimes because they’re desperate to escape London’s prying eyes.

5.     A luxurious love nest in Derbyshire. This might just be where James Fairbrother, Marquess of Leath, arranges a tryst with the woman he finds so terrifically tempting. Nell Trim is technically a servant in his house so for the sake of her reputation, he whisks her away to a secret hideaway cottage in the wildly beautiful Peak District.

So my question today is – which of these five would you choose for a tryst with your hero?

3.     Tristan – he’s so honorable

I would like to thank Vicky for sharing her top five heroes. So, now you all know that Vicky would pick Bell first to go on a date. If you have read any of Vicky's books, who would you pick? I personally would pick Hawk, he's my favorite out all of them. I have to admit he's pretty funny.

Forever Romance Guest Post (Top 5 Moments in Last Chance) + Excerpt + Giveaway: Last Chance Family by Hope Ramsay

Checkout Hope Ramsay's Top 5 Favorite Moments in Last Chance:

·       When Ruby Rhodes meets Jane Coblentz for the first time in the middle of a hurricane.   (Welcome to Last Chance)
Riding out the hurricane had just reached a new level of tedium when a woman wearing a bright yellow rain slicker and a pair of matching pants opened the door and said, "Goodness gracious, who are you?"
The newcomer had a round face with a riot of curls that had been permed into place.  She was carrying a large Tupperware lunch bucket filled with fried chicken.
"Uh, I'm Jane."  Jane scrambled to her feet as the woman carefully scrutinized her.  The woman's gaze swept over the sleeping bag, Jane's oversized sweatshirt, and her wet jeans, jacket, and tank top hung over a folding chair.
Something seemed to hang in the balance for an instant, and then the woman let go of a large and genuine smile.  "Oh dear me, I'm sorry, darlin', I must have scared you nearly 'bout to death.  Let me introduce myself.  I'm Clay's momma, Ruby.  I just brought him some dinner."
Ohmygod, his mother!   Jane stifled the urge to tug on the neck of the sweatshirt.  Heaven help her if the hickey was visible.

Tasty Book Tours Guest Post (Top 5) + Giveaway: The Governess Club: Louisa & Sara by Ellie MacDonald

Guest Post: 5 Random Facts About Sara

1. Sara is not named after my sister Sarah. They are spelled differently to avoid the weirdness of writing those certain scenes!

2. This was the hardest book of the series for me to write. It was difficult for me to get inside my characters’ heads, meaning I needed more time to figure them out. Subsequently, there are a lot of deleted scenes and moments based on my editor’s advice.

3. This is the longest book of the series. The transformation journeys Sara and Nathan go on are more complex and detailed than the other books, so I needed more pages to make that happen.

4. When Sara says she doesn’t like teaching – that is me saying the same thing. I was going through a rough patch in my day job and was really disillusioned on the teaching profession and it made sense to me to have Sara not like what she was doing.

5. My cousin Liam was really willing to be a dog! I made his character human because to me, Liam isn’t a very good dog name. He was disappointed when he found that out.

Forever Romance Blog Tour + Guest Post (Top 5) + Giveaway: What a Duke Dares by Anna Campbell

Top 5 Rogues by Anna Campbell

Hi Melody! Thank you so much for having me as your guest today.
Oh, the rogue! Don’t we love him? At least between the pages of a book where we know he’ll end up devoting all that roguishness to one lucky woman by the end – even if he fights his fate tooth and nail, poor thing. Actually Camden Rothermere, the hero of WHAT A DUKE DARES (out 26th August), isn’t exactly a rogue, but he doesn’t welcome the vulnerability that comes with falling in love!

In honor of roguish heroes, I’m going to list my top 5 Regency rogues:

1. George Gordon, Lord Byron. Famously “mad, bad and dangerous to know,” Byron was the prototype for the Regency rake character so beloved of readers. His scandalous ways got so bad that he had to flee England for the Continent after a disastrous marriage and an affair with his sister. And he certainly didn’t change his behavior once he crossed the Channel. A man who burned bright but briefly, he died at the age of 36, fighting the Turks for the cause of Greek independence. Byron had brains as well as reckless physical courage and is still a compelling figure – I’m not surprised that the adjective Byronic is part of the language! You wonder where he found time to write all that poetry!

2. The Prince Regent (later George IV). I’ve never much liked Prinny. He had so much going for him and he squandered it all in self-indulgence. But he gave his name to the wonderful Regency period and he ruled over an England packed with interesting people and events. George was definitely a rogue – he racked up enormous debts, locked his wife out of his coronation, entertained extravagantly (in 1811, he held a dinner for 3,000 people which included live gold fish swimming down a stream in the middle of the table), and he contracted an unofficial marriage with his Catholic mistress.

3. Napoleon Bonaparte, Emperor of France. Napoleon is one of those titanic historical characters it’s actually hard for us to get our head around. He was definitely a rogue, not just because he plunged Europe into years of war. He had plenty of energy left for the bedchamber too. He married Josephine, a woman six years older than him, and then divorced her when she couldn’t give him a child. He had mistresses all over Europe, including actresses, opera singers and aristocrats. Sadly, two of the famous stories about him, the one where he said, “Not tonight, Josephine,” and the one where he wrote to Josephine from the battlefield, telling her not to wash until he got home, are both later inventions. The legend is always more interesting!

4. Arthur Wellesley, the Duke of Wellington. Actually Wellington, who brought the rampages of Rogue 3 to an end at the Battle of Waterloo, was a straight shooter who called a spade a spade and loathed humbug. But he had his share of mistresses, partly, I think, as a result of a very unhappy marriage. When in 1825, famous courtesan Harriette Wilson threatened to reveal secrets of their affair in her memoirs unless he paid her to keep quiet, he told her, “Publish and be damned.” And she did!

5. Giacomo Casanova.  Casanova (1725-1798) is actually a bit early to count as a Regency personality, but his antics wouldn’t be out of place in a historical romance. His fame rests on his memoirs, published after his death. From what I gather, there’s doubt as to their accuracy, but they certainly cover plenty of roguishness. He claims to have slept with 122 women, dabbled in the occult, escaped from prison several times, gambled like a fiend, and amassed huge debts. This is scandalous enough, but it’s even more so when you know that Casanova was ordained as a priest! Like Byron, his name has entered the language as a word for womanizer.

So that’s my Rogues’ Gallery. Are you a fan of rogues in historical romance? Why do you think the rogue is such a reader favorite?

About WHAT A DUKE DARES
What woman in her right mind would say no to marrying the dashing Duke of Sedgemoor? Miss Penelope Thorne, that's who. She's known Camden Rothermere since they were children-and she also knows she'd bring nothing but scandal to his name.

Cam can hardly believe Penelope turned down his proposal. But if she wants to run off to the Continent and set the rumor mill ablaze, he can't stop her. Then her brother's dying request sends him to bring home the one woman he thought he'd finally gotten over.

The only way they'll both get back to London without their reputations in tatters is to pretend they're married during the journey. That means kissing like they mean it and even sharing a bed-until it becomes hard to tell where the game ends and true desire begins . . .

Excerpt from Vampire's Thirst:

Duncan watched Kimber tend to the wounds she inflicted and wondered at her attitude. This was the second time they’d made love in the last few days, and both times he’d seen her struggle to contain a new level of aggression. She wouldn’t talk to him about it, though, and it was making him crazy. How could he be an effective leader if he couldn’t even help his own lover?
He waited until she’d capped the bottle of peroxide and set the first-aid kit on the bedside table before he said, “Talk to me, Kimber. Tell me what’s going on with you.”
She heaved a sigh and got to her feet. Going over to his dresser, she pulled out one of his T-shirts and slipped it over her head. She usually wasn’t uncomfortable being nude around him, so her action told him what they were about to deal with wasn’t going to be pleasant. Was she tired of being with him? Had he been too dominant in their lovemaking?
“Kimber?” The waiting was hell on his nerves.
“The day before yesterday, when we went out for tampons?” She glanced at him. When he nodded, she went on. “You know on our way back we were attacked by zombies.”
“Yes, Atticus told me. I came up here to see how you were doing, but you were already asleep. I didn’t want to wake you. Then you were gone later that night when I woke up.” He watched her to gauge her reaction.
She gave a slight wince. “Yes, well, I had things to do.” She waved one hand in the air. “That doesn’t matter. What does matter is that when we were fighting the zombies, I stumbled, and when I flung out my arm to try to keep my balance, I ended up grabbing hold of Atticus.” She looked at him. “Atticus didn’t tell you any of this?”
He frowned. “He told me you had to fight zombies, that you were successful, and everyone was all right. Was there more he should have told me?”
She shook her head. “No. I mean, there was more, but I asked him to let me tell you.” She blew out a breath. “When I grabbed him, I drew energy from him and it allowed me to push the Unseen out of the zombies. You should have seen them drop to the ground.”
“You did what?” He straightened from his slouched position against the headboard. He couldn’t have heard her right. She attacked his second-in-command?
“I didn’t do it on purpose,” she said. “He must have seen me stumble and reached out to help me at the same time I flung my hand out. Once I had hold of him and the power transfer started, I couldn’t let go. I tried, Duncan.” Her eyes went round and pleading, and her lower lip got a slight tremble to it. “It hurt, just like before, but it…” She clamped her jaw shut.
“It what?”
“It felt good, too. It was power, and it was mine.” She began to pace the room, her hands gesturing wildly. “This could be something big, Duncan. If all necromancers have this ability, we could end the apocalypse.”
He got off the bed and pulled on his jeans. “And just how many vampires do you propose we sacrifice?”
She came to a stop and stared at him. “It wouldn’t have to be a sacrifice. I didn’t kill Atticus.”
“But you came close, didn’t you? Or you could have,” he amended. At her stubborn expression, he said, “I know you, Kimber. I know the kind of power you have. Plus you have some of the Unseen in you. How did that affect what happened with Atticus? Or did it happen with Atticus because of the Unseen in you?”
Her shoulders slumped. “I don’t know.”
He studied her for a minute, then left the bedroom. He strode through the living room and yanked open the door to the hallway. “Find Atticus and bring him here,” he said to the guards. Without waiting for a response, he closed the door. When he turned around, he saw Kimber standing in front of the sofa, twisting her fingers together. She’d pulled on her jeans but still wore his T-shirt.
Her auburn hair, tousled and silky-looking, cascaded around her shoulders. “I didn’t do it on purpose, Duncan,” she whispered. Her teeth dug into her lower lip. “I wouldn’t do something like that. You have to believe me.”
“I’d like to believe you, sweetheart. I would.” He walked over and put his hands on her shoulders, giving them a slight squeeze. “But I’ve seen how you’ve changed. I’ve seen you fight whatever is rising in you. I think if a situation presented itself and you believed taking energy from a vampire was the only solution, I’m not sure you could stop yourself.”
A knock sounded on the door, and it swung open to reveal Atticus.
“Come in,” Duncan invited. When the door closed behind his second-in-command, Duncan said, “Kimber just told me what happened on your way back from the drugstore.”
Atticus shot a glance her way but said nothing.
“This is a serious development,” Duncan went on, “and poses a potential threat to all vampires. I want all necromancers under guard until further notice. Let everyone know they’re considered dangerous and should not be touched under any circumstances.”
Atticus inclined his head. “Understood and agreed.” With another glance at Kimber, he departed.
“Does that include me?” Kimber asked, her voice hard. “Am I to be kept under guard? Am I not to be touched?”
He clenched his teeth. “If you’re not with me, then, yes, you will have a guard. And anyone else will be advised not to touch you, but you and I will definitely be skin to skin, sweetheart. You can count on that.”
“Don’t be so sure,” she said. “I’m not just any other necromancer, Duncan. I’m the woman who loves you. The woman you claim to love.” Her fists clenched at her sides and he had the distinct impression she was fighting throwing a punch at him. After a few seconds she let out a little growl and headed back toward the bedroom. Over her shoulder she threw out, “You’re treating me like a monster. The way I’m feeling right now, that might be an accurate assessment. You might not be safe from me.”
