Don't you just hate it when someone destroys all your carefully made plans?

I mean, I had goals: college to graduate in one semester, a future I was working hard to reach, and an image of myself I wanted the world to see. My life was stacked into these precisely placed blocks. But then Colton Gamble came along and knocked them all askew.

I hated how he messed everything up, how he could hog all my attention whenever he was around, how he made my pulse quicken--but only because he ticked me off...not because I was attracted to him. Oh! And I hated how he knew how attractive he was too, the shallow, full of himself, doesn't take no for an answer, too-flirty, too cocky, extremely irritating jerk.

The boy had all the qualities that turned me off. Or so I thought.

One night he wasn't quite the brainless, over-confident jerk I usually took him for.

One night, he took care of me when I was at my lowest. He opened up to me and made me open up to him.

Now I'm learning maybe he's not what I first thought he was. And maybe I'M not what I first thought I was. Maybe it’s okay to rearrange a couple of my perfectly set blocks. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll stop worrying about what I’m afraid everyone else will think and finally reach for something I really want. It’s possible some of my plans need to be destroyed, and Colton Gamble is exactly the kind of mess I need in my life.

What do you think? Should I give him a try?

Desperately seeking your advice,
Julianna Radcliffe

Just as he’s starting to get used to his new life as a health and fitness columnist for Oxford magazine, his unpredictable ex shows up on his doorstep in Manhattan. Jackson should be thrilled. Dark Protector by Katie Reus (Review)

If you have read the previous Moon Shifter books you will recognize a few of characters. If you haven't and you are new to this series, it's okay you will be fine reading this book by itself. However, it's better read as a whole.

Now the story focuses on Aldric Kazan and Natalie Cordona. Now these two were started to form a bond, but Aldric chicken out. He didn't feel like he could handle the responsibility of another's life. Now his wolf was having issues with this. Natalie has been waiting for Aldric to get back to her, but she's fed up and decided it was time to move on. However, Jayce realize his brother was making the same stupid mistake as his did, decided he need to intervene. Good times.

Anyway, Aldric, Natalie, and the others are trying to figure out what is going on, before a war breaks out between one vampire coven and a wolf pack. Boy that would get ugly. Anyway, Dark Protector is a pretty good read. I enjoyed the story and the little bit of romance. I always enjoyed Katie books, because she manages to make the bad guy pretty crazy and Dark Protector is no exception. I was thinking it was someone else, but I was wrong. So, if you are in the mood for a little suspence with a dash of wolves you might give Dark Protector a go.

If Santa were a Cowboy by Melissa Cutler (Review)

Seriously adorable, fun read. Oh my, talk about hitting a funny bone. In If Santa were a Cowboy, we find Paul Savage and Kelly Walker. They were friends in school, and Paul had a huge crush on Kelly. However, Paul always thought she was out of his league. Little did he know, she kind of return the favor, but didn't handle it too well. Basically, them parting ways. Now Kelly needs a life reboot after her disaster of the "Year of Yes". First off, the Year of Yes sounds like a terrible idea to begin. Kelly has decided to see Paul and try to seduce him, thinking it would be totally easy. 😂😂😂 To bad, she didn't take into consideration that people change after high school, and now her task seems daunting.

Overall, If Santa were a Cowboy was a nice touch to get me into the holiday spirit. Not only that this quick read got me out of my reading slump. These two are fun to read.

Big Package by Opal Carew (Review)

Big Package by Opal Carew is not going to be for everyone. However, if you love hot, steamy, and a little fun Opal is your gal. Now in this holiday read you are going to find some naughty elves, and other big packages. Basically, Kallen and Holly knew each other from high school. Kallen kind like Holly, but she was kind of shy. He also had a big problem when it came to girls, but now they are all grown up Holly is willing to take on this big guy.

Fairly quick read, with some serious hot times stuck in cabin during a snow storm. I did like Big Package, because there is a little story that goes along with the hot times. We watch these two get it on in more ways than one. They both have insecurities that cause a little ripple in the budding relationship. So, if you are in the need of a hot Christmas read, Big Package is your read.

How to Impress a Marquess by Susanna Ives (Review)

First off, I wanted to read How to Impress a Marquess solely on the cover. I didn't really read the back blurb, I might have glanced at it, but the cover caught my attention. This can be dangerous, because I started the book I wasn't sure what it was about. So, I decided to look at the blurb, and truthfully the blurb is kind of vague in a way too. I mean it talks about the hero being like a stick in the mud and the heroine is basically a free spirit. Also there were a couple of times I didn't know what era I was suppose to be in, I know that I was suppose to be in the Victorian era. Yes, I did look up some information, which I was surprise she didn't use Cambridge instead of Oxford for some parts of the story. Oh well. Other than that I actually found How to Impress a Marquess quite entertaining.

Okay warning there might be some spoilers, so sorry, but it has to be in order to explain some of what I liked about the story.

First off, George Maryle, Marquess of Marylewick is definitely stuff. He heaps on the responsibility of his family, and he worries about the things that will tarnish his reputation. He has one problem which happens to be Lilith Dahlgren. She's the free spirit ward he's in charge of making sure she doesn't get into too much trouble. However, Lilith is always getting into trouble. These two couldn't be more opposite. Yet there banter between one another could cause a fire. I love how Lilith continues to change George, because he needs that spark of life. Majority of the story you see these two going back and forward. At the same time Lilith can't stand the Maryle family, and it's completely understandable after the way they treated her when she was younger. She truly tried to fit in, but no one gave her chance. I felt so bad for Lilith. Basically, she found a creative outlet in the form of her story.

I liked how Susanna intertwined Lilith's story into the book it made the story more interesting. Granted it was already entertaining to beginning with, but you see Lilith's feelings through the story. She did try to explain herself to George, but he had the hardest time hearing. Actually, George isn't unlikable, but you get to understand him a little better through the story. Overall, I enjoyed the story. Yes, I was a little worry at the beginning of the story, but found myself wanting to know more of what was going on. Five Ways To Impress A Marquess

I didn’t title my book. I just called it “book” or “that &*%$! book” during its writing. My publisher came up with the catchy “How To Impress a Marquess.” However, for the first third of the book, my heroine, Lilith Dahlgren, couldn’t care less about impressing George, Marquess of Marylewick, and told him as much on numerous occasions. Hmmm, so maybe that should be my first “way” to impress the marquess.

1.) Have a healthy disregard for the marquess’ opinion. After all, Lilith is a strong woman who knows her own mind. She doesn’t need some starchy marquess telling her what to do, how to behave, and what to think. The only reason she must interact with him is because he’s her trustee and keeps a tight handle on her purse strings.

2.) Make the marquess a villainous sultan in your work of fiction. It is possible that Lilith was been attracted to the marquess all along. Why else would she have created such a sexy villain in her popular serialized story, which she published under a pen name? Even better, make a fictional heroine who is your alter ego. Through her fictional heroine Collette, Lilith puts into print all the tender parts of herself that she can’t show to George. Have your marquess fall in love with your fictional alter ego but never let him know that he is the villain. Warning: this is a very dangerous course and could later blow up in your face.

3.) Wear tight clothes and flowing robes to entice him. This actually could be considered a subpoint of point two. Writing a story requires Lilith to sit for long periods of time and eat loads of toffee to fuel her creative brain. This really wreaks havoc on that famed Victorian waistline. Poor Lilith is popping her stays to fit in her clothes, so she usually flounces about the house in comfortable robes or shifts.

4.) Dig into a painful secret from the marquess’ boyhood to reveal his true sensitive heart beating beneath the fusty exterior. For example, discover that he was once a talented artist who quit painting after numerous spankings ordered from his disapproving father. Force the marquess to face his old secrets and personal demons. Lilith finds George’s hidden boyhood art and tricks him into looking at it again. Of course, digging into a marquess’ past might not impress but anger him, so proceed with caution.

5.) Love the marquess, not for his title, wealth, estates, or societal position. Love him with all your being for his kind heart and beautiful spirit. This is the most impressive point of them all.
