Portland Rebels, Book 3

Samhain Publishing
Release Date August 2, 2016

Blurb:

Deviance is unacceptable. It's taboo. And it's the one thing he's always wanted.
Portland Rebels, Book 3

Painful shyness isn't the only reason Mikey Pelletier is a twenty-five-year-old virgin. Between working for his parents and volunteering at his church, he neither has the time nor the inclination to admit his bisexuality to the world—or to himself.

A visit from Krissy Porter will hopefully fix everything. After three months of chatting with her, Mikey's got one carefully planned week to win her heart and lose his V-card. He's hoping he can pull it off, even with her roommate along for the ride.

Krissy has been drawn to Mikey for a while. He's so easygoing, she thinks he could be the calm in her storm. But there's an extra complication when she comes to visit: her friend-with-benefits, "hetero-flexible" roommate, Rafe.

During a week of revelations, intimacy, and kink, Krissy and Rafe become the angel and devil on Mikey's shoulders, tempting him in different directions. And all three of them discover that a week of pure deviance can lead to the most uncontrollable emotion of all: love.

Warning: This book contains innocent board game-playing that takes a sexy turn, use of recreational substances, back-door action, and some smokin' hot threesomes. Plus, scenes of inner-demon slaying. Fans and tissues advised.

Blurb:

Love soothes the deepest of scars.

Minerva Bellingham is at her wits’ end. Her younger brother, Simon, will have them penniless and on the streets if his extravagant gambling habit isn’t curtailed. An enormous debt to Lord Rafe Drummond is the final indignity.

Signing over her dowry is their only choice. Until Lord Drummond suggests something much more scandalous. She can keep her dowry—in exchange for the Bellinghams working three months as a housemaid and stable boy.

Scarred from his service to the Crown, Rafe recognizes the young Simon Bellingham has the makings of a good duke. Minerva is a different story. Her pure, delicate beauty only underscores Rafe’s tarnished, bleak soul.

Yet he delights in cracking Minerva’s icy reserve to reveal a fiery, stubborn woman. And Minerva discovers the gruff master of Wintermarsh has the heart of a poet. But before they can find a future safe in each other’s arms, a menace from Simon’s licentious past slithers back into their lives, forcing Rafe to plan the most important rescue mission of his life.

Warning: Contains a paragon of the beau monde who gets the hang of polishing silver, and a master of the house who’d like her to make his bed—preferably with him in it. Also passion unleashed with the mere touch of a finger. Readers are encouraged to swoon.

Blurb
Lawyers know when to play by the rules…and when to break them.
Harvard law professor Jack Archer once balanced his professional life with the private world of dominance, surrender, and trust he shared with his wife. Since cancer stole her a year ago, finding love again—her final wish for him—is the furthest thing from his mind. From his empty house to the classroom, grief follows his every move. Until he meets a young woman with shadows in her eyes even darker than his own.

Once a shining star at law school, Lilly Sterling's dreams died when the Dom she trusted left her heartbroken and lost. She's starting fresh in a new city as a paralegal, but meeting Jack reawakens all her old demons—and her lingering desires.

Jack offers to become Lilly's mentor for both the courtroom and the playroom, but tells himself it's not a relationship. Their carefully worded contract guarantees that. But when their trial agreement starts heating up, both Jack and Lilly must decide what will tip the scales: the letter of the law…or love?

Warning: All rise for a book that contains a wounded submissive and a Dominant who wants to retrain her while retaining control of his heart. Discovery phase may involve spankings, bondage, edging, and blindfolds. Is it hot? You be the judge.

Dance With The Devil by Angela Dennis (Review)

Yesterday, I finished Dance With The Devil by Angela Dennis, and I liked this story a lot. Okay, we have Carrick and Jillian who are both running from their past, but they both get called home. They didn't know they were technically enemies until they reach their pride lands. When they return chaos is in the air and Jillian needs to pretty much assume the roll of Alpha. However, she never thought this to be possible since she's a half-blood. Man there is a lot of politics that go into this pride. She needs to find a mate, and the conclave has chosen one for her. However, it's a little late, because she had accidentally mated with Carrick. Boy does it all get all kinds of crazy when she needs to ignore that she mated with Carrick and pretend to mate with his brother Lucas. Say what. Yep, and this is for the good of the pride.

Jillian is faced with the challenge of staying with her actually mate or try to mate with Lucas for the good of the pride. Definitely, a hard choice. She's always been consider an outcast by her kind, but she's willing to protect them from whatever course.

I did enjoyed the story, but it did have me biting my nails at times. It's pretty intense at times and sitting there hoping she picks Carrick. There are so many risk factors if she chooses Carrick, and she weighs all the options. She does have wonderful friends that help with her choice. I like how they break things down so she can see that it would be a disaster if she didn't stay with Carrick.

Dance With The Devil is a great start to Angela's new series. You see the politics of the pride and how they are challenge on all sides of the story. We have Jillian and Carrick trying to see what is the best for everyone, which isn't always the easiest. By the end, we have a happy ending for Jillian and Carrick, but at the same time gearing up to face the conclave. Not a cliffhanger per se, but leads to the next book. By the end of Dance With The Devil, I'm clamoring for the next book, because I want to see who gets mated next and what happens with the concave show up. Cause they are not going to be happy with certain events. Now I have to wait and be patient. Ugh. Other than the issue on waiting, Dance With The Devil is a pretty good read, and Angela does a pretty good job building this world with lion shifters.

RockStar PR Spotlight + Review + Excerpt: The Hierarchy of Needs by Rebecca Grace Allen

The Hierarchy of Needs
The Portland Rebels, #2

Blurb:

Jamie Matthews is stuck in a rut. After hitting a wall with her dream career, she’s back in her hometown, living a life as monotonous as swimming laps in the neighborhood pool.

Being surrounded by her perfect brothers is a painful reminder of her failure to launch. The last bonfire of the summer is an ideal way to let off steam, especially when she runs into Dean Trescott, the playboy friend she had one hot-as-hell night with back in high school.

Since the day Dean met Jamie, he’s loved her beauty, talent, and smile that lit up the whole damn block. But dating isn’t an option. She has a bright future ahead of her, and he refuses to chain her to his—helping run the family business that’s barely staying afloat.

A “what-happens-in-Vegas” weekend was supposed to get their craving for each other out of their systems. But neither counted on the past repeating itself, drawing them together in even hotter and dirtier ways and dangling the possibility they might both be able to get exactly what they need…

Warning: A friends-to-lovers twice over story that contains some hot ’n’ heavy kissing in the waves, hair pulling, and a man who knows how to use his hands. It may also feature a few practical jokes—only the fun kind, of course.

Wicked Weekend by Karen Erickson (Review)

Karen Erickson's Wicked Weekend is a quick short novella. It's really short. However, I look at it more like an introductory to the series which is Vegas Nights. Basically, we are getting introduce to three friends who are looking for a good time in Vegas. They happen to meet the assistant to Declan Carter, James. James assignment was to find good-looking girls who aren't fake for Declan and his friends. That's pretty much it for this part of the story. Now we have to wait for the rest of the story.

eARC: Tempted by Her Boss by Karen Erickson

All right, I would strongly encourage you all to read Temporary Arrangement first, because it gives the back story on how Paige and Matteo meet. Plus, it's free, so it's not going hurt to you any. Once that's done you can move on to Tempted by Her Boss. Plus, going back will help you understand the sexual tension between Paige and Matteo.

Ok, so I'm at a lost for words. Don't get me wrong, I truly enjoyed the story. Yes, Paige did the ultimate no-no when it comes to being a nanny, and that is falling for the father of her charge. Something that should never happen. Yet, she's not the only one with these feelings. Matteo also has feelings for his nanny. Too bad two wrongs don't make a right, or could they? Yes, both have strong feelings for each other and they both know it's wrong. But how can you stop something that feels so right?

Paige is a sweet girl who happens to be fresh, innocent and has her whole life ahead her. Yet, she has falling hard for Matteo and his son Matty. While Matteo is older and a wee-bit jaded thanks to his decease wife. He still can't stop his feelings for someone he shouldn't want.

Seriously, the sexual tension between these characters is incredible. It's amazing to watch these two battle feelings and keep them at bay, yet unable to. Karen can write an incredible story full of emotion and tension. Truly impress with how the story came out. Overall, love the tension and build of all sorts of emotions. So, if you are looking for incredible characters who fight their attraction, you might want to checkout Tempted By Her Boss.

Temporary Arrangement by Karen Erickson

First off,  Temporary Arrangement is starting point of Karen Erickson new series The Renaldis. In this story, we meet  Paige Stewart who happens to be down on her luck, when he gets a lucky break. She finally gets a nanny job working for Matteo Renaldi taking care of his son Matty.

I happen to like this little teaser. Yes, it would be a teaser, because by the end of the story you are anxious to see what happens to Paige and Matteo. However, this novella gives you a good start on how Paige came into Matteo's life and how she slowly tear down his wall.

So, if you love Karen Erickson's stories, you will be excited to start her new series. However, it's probably a good idea to start with Temporary Arrangement.

eARC: Her Perfect March by Jess Michaels

All right, for the past couple of days I have been reading Her Perfect Match by Jess Michaels. The final installment of A Mistress Matchmaker series.

Vivien Manning has been a mistress for about 10 years and has grown tired of it. Vivien has decided to hang up the mistress gig and mistress matchmaking for good. However, she is finding that she needs get some closure before she leaves. One of the things she needs to settle is her feelings for Benedict Greystone.

I enjoyed Her Perfect Match. I actually enjoy Jess Michaels books for a couple of reasons: One it has nothing to do with the sex scenes. Two, she's able to write a good story if you feel the need to skip over the sex scenes, but if you are looking for a good sex scene she can write them.

I enjoyed this story, because of Vivien. I actually like the idea of her putting together a bucket list of things she wants accomplish before she ended her life as a mistress. Don't get the wrong idea that she's going to off herself off. No she's just no longer going to be mistress or be in London. She's planning to start anew. I love the idea of her ending one life to start anew.

In the story, you learn that Vivien is no stranger to reinventing herself, which happens to add more character depth. In the past we just seen her as this cold calculating person, but there is more than she reveals to anyone. However, she starts to reveal more to Benedict and he starts to fall more in love with her. I love that Benedict is willing to sacrifice everything for her, but she fights him all the way. I love that she loves him so much that she is willing to sacrifice herself to make sure he is in good standing in society.

Overall, an enjoyable read. A great way to end the Mistress Matchmaker series. I absolutely enjoyed the ending of the story, which gives you the closure that is needed. So, if you are a fan of Jess Michaels you are not going to miss this story.

eARC: For Desire Alone by Jess Michaels

Here we are again, and I bring you another book I just finished. Granted this is not my typical reads, but hey you got try other stuff right. Plus, you never know what you will find out there. So, today selection is For Desire Alone by Jess Michaels, which is book two of Mistress Matchmaker series.

Mariah Desmond is on the prowl for a new protector after finding out that her lover left her with pretty much nothing after he passes away. You would think she would get more than what she got, after all she was his mistress for sometime. At last, it was not the case.

Back on the market as you might say, Mariah stumbles upon Owen's best friend John Rycroft. They both have an enjoyable time of pleasure, but John is unable to give more than that. Hurt by John, Mariah continues the search. However, John is unable to stop himself for seeking out more.

So, I have been trying to come up with the right words for today's entry. All that comes to mind is hot steamy sex. The kind that makes you yearn for a cold shower. Granted there is more to story than a hankering for a cold shower. For example, Mariah was never cut out to be a mistress. Somehow she was able to maintain some type innocences in a jaded lifestyle. However, life choices changes the course of direction.

Then you have John who is rich and handsome, and any woman would be glad to hold. Yet he is perfectly content being a one night stand kind of guy, until he has Mariah. Something changes in him when it comes to Mariah. I love that he tries so hard to be honorable and keep his distance from Mariah. Somehow he can't.

Overall, I liked the story. It wasn't the hot steamy sex that did it for me, but the actual story itself. There was so much depth to For Desire Alone and made a good read. So, if you are looking for something a little more heated and a dark brooding hero, you might want to checkout For Desire Alone by Jess Michaels.
