Spellbound in Sleepy Hollow: A Von Tassel Sisters Anthology

After reading Spellbound in Sleep Hollow, I decided to change my format of my review. At first I was going to tell you about the individual stories. However, in this case I think I should focus on a whole. The anthology focuses on three sisters and their three aunties (they are dead relatives who can't go off into Summerlands). Each of the stories focuses on one sister and auntie, yet they are all have a common bond with the Headless Horseman.

In Bewitching Her Enemy by Patricia Eimer, we get a glimpse of Stephanie and Katarina. They are both the ones who started the mess between them all. Literally, both get them in some serious mess. While Katarina had her and the other aunties bound together  to their loves, Stephanie ends up getting herself,  her sisters, and the aunties needed to find their true love and get them to say that they love each other by All Hallow's Eve. If they do, they can avoid the fate of being tied to their home forever. This would be an easy task except they all have been hurt by the guys they are destine to be with. Oh joy. Then in the next story Under His Spell by Rosalie Lario, we get to know Brianna and Elizabeth. More things happen in this story and they one step closer to breaking the curse that Stephanie and Katarina inflicted on them all. The final story Hexing Her Ex by Boone Brux focuses more on Lexi and Cassandra. By the end everything gets wrapped up nicely. So, there you have stories all together. However, when broken down to the individual loves lives that are affected.

Bewitching Her Enemy:
Carson and Stephanie have a great relationship. Then Stephanie believes Carson cheated on her, so she dumps him. However, there's more that happens to it has to do with a certain witch's wedding. Katarina couldn't understand why Brom left her after he confess his love her. However, things happen and didn't end well with Katarina. Both, Brom and her had bitterness left from misunderstanding. By the end of this story, both couples have things sorted out.

I have to say, that this story was a great start to the anthology. I love how the author switched back and forth between Stephanie and Katarina's POV.

Under His Spell:
Brianna has always had a crush on Jason, but he never notice her crush. So, she just brushed off and decided it was for the best. After all he wasn't a wizard, a dud (non-magical person). However, things happen which makes her wonder if she was wrong not give Jason a chance. Of course there is a little conflict when his co-host tries to make a move on him. Nothing good can come of this. Then you have Elizabeth who didn't understand why Edward left, while in the process leaving ended up dead. She ended up with his brother and he was mad at her. Funny how they all have a misunderstanding.

Okay, this story wasn't as exciting as the first one or the last. However, it was still a good read. I do like how everything comes to light in the end and they all get their love.

Hexing Her Ex:
This one story held the key to everything. By the time we reach this story Stephanie, Brianna, Katarina, and Elizabeth all have fixed their relationships, we come to the challenge. Lexi isn't sure who she's going to find and there's the problem with Cassandra. Now Cassandra will not forgive Jacob, because she felt betrayed. One thing he goes and marries another and she ends up stoned to death. However, Cassandra does leave a mark on them. Now Lexi doesn't know what to do, she doesn't really want to end up with Tristan cause she believes he's a dud. However, he has a little secret.

This one was my favorite story and a lot has to do with Cassandra. She's a bit out there out of all the aunties. Lets go with spunk. This one story wraps everything together. Of course everyone has there HEA.

Overall, these ladies did a fantastic job in Spellbound in Sleepy Hollow. I absolutely love how the stories just flow well together. It shows that they really worked together on this anthology. I love how they tied in the twist of Legend of Sleepy Hollow to the story.

Mustang Sassy by Daire St. Denis

So, last night I finished Mustang Sassy by Daire St. Denis. First off, the first thought that popped in my head was the first line of Mustang Sally. Of course, I had to change it to Mustang Sassy. Anyway, I should proceed with my thoughts.

I wanted to read Mustang Sassy, because the blurb sounded kind of funny. I mean Sassy catches her boyfriend with his hands all up on another girl and she just loses it. Next thing you know she's go through the motions of taking it out on the dude's car. Of course, you have to think of the Carrie Underwood song Before He Cheats. Sassy comes to find out she damage the wrong car. Whoops. What are the odds of having the exact same model and almost same shade of blue in the same area? Nearly impossible. However, strange things do happen. For example, I had one gate guard ask me if I had just got my Civic? I guess my car looked just like the one he sold. Highly unlikely, but not unheard of.

Anyway, Jordan Carlyle wanted to know what Hogan's Restoration and Body Shop had over Carlyle Classic's. So, he figure he would find out who does the best work and basically take them away from Hogan's. Yeah, a bit underhanded, but it's all about survival. So, Jordan gives a fake name and the story goes from there.

Honestly, I thought it was a cute read. I mean you have Sassy who feels kind of guilty on what she has done, but doesn't want to fess up. Jordan who is viewed as the family screw up and doesn't want to come completely clean on why he's there to both parties. Both of them had plenty of opportunity to come clean, but neither of them do. There relationship is a bit interesting too. Where you have Sassy who has a fear of relationships and a lot has to stem from family life. She doesn't want to get to attach to anyone for fear of them leaving her. In a way it's a logical thought and more is reveal on why she feels this way. Even though Jordan is a bit dishonest, he's willing to stick it out and fight for Sassy while past guys never did.

Seriously, Mustang Sassy is a fun cute read. It would be brain candy, something light and fluffy and not overly-taxing. So, if you are looking for something that's not going to stress you out, you might want to give Mustang Sassy a go.

Hunter's Moon by Lisa Kessler

So, a couple months back I read Moonlight which was the start of Lisa Kessler's newest series The Moon. Now we are progress into the story with Hunter's Moon. Oh yeah, we delve deeper into the series and learn more about Nero. Boy are they bad.

While we are starting to understand the evilness of Nero, we also can't forget about the romance. Yes, we have romance, but it's a bit complicated. If you remember from the first book, you would remember Sasha was a bit of a loose cannon. She still is, but she has a problem in a shape of a werewolf by the name of Aren Sloan. Poor Aren; he finally finds his mate and she's not what he expect. Oh goodness.

Why this book is pretty awesome: 1) We get little more information about the bad guy. 2) Sasha and Aren's relationship is bit complicated. Come on, she tried to kill him in the first book. When more secrets are reveal, somehow more secrets pop-up. So far, I'm finding each story is getting a bit more exciting. I can't wait to see what happens next. As I said Hunter's Moon is pretty awesome. I would advise reading Moonlight first cause you might get a bit lost in this story if you haven't read it first. Other than that, checkout this series if you like paranormals.

eARC: Moonlight by Lisa Kessler

I finished Lisa Kessler's newest book and start to a new series, Moonlight. Yes, this is a werewolf book with some jaguars. I have notice a trend of these kinds of books, but I actually really liked this book. Let me share my thoughts:

First off, the story might feel a little slow at first, but you need to keep in mind this is the start of a new series. It is very important to keep in mind, because Ms. Kessler is building the story. Plus, it's kind of important to know why certain people are getting chased and murder.

So, we have Adam Sloan who happens to be a werewolf and he's wonder why there's a jaguar in his territory. Once he stumbles upon Lana Turpin, Adam's life gets turn upside down (that's putting it mildly). Anyways, he sees something special between him and Lana, but can't face the facts that he found his mate.Yep jaguar and wolf, it's bound to get complicated. If that wasn't enough, Lana has Nero Organization chasing after, which endangers Adam's pack.

Once the story is establish, it's pretty action pack. We have a mysterious group that seems pretty evil. Then you have a complicated relationship with jaguar and wolf possibly getting together. I mean how do tell your family, "Hey I found my mate, by the way she's a jaguar." Yep, not going to go over to well. So, if you are looking for a new shifter book with wolves and jaguars with evil mystery group, you might want to give Moonlight a try. I can't wait to see what happens next.

The "What If" Guy by Brooke Moss

Well, I got a chance to read The "What If" Guy by Brooke Moss. This delightful read is about to be re-release this coming week. I'm seriously really enjoyed the book.

Have you ever wonder if the guy you left behind was the "one"? Well, Autumn Cole has always thought of Henry Tobler after leaving him. She never thought she would see him again, funny how fate intervenes in her life.

Yes, I did enjoyed this story. The "What If" Guy has a lot of emotional tension. The tension tends to circle around Autumn and her dynamics between her son, her father, and Henry. Coming back to her hometown hasn't been an easy transition. I loved the dynamics between each of her relationship with the men her life. So, you watch Autumn deal with rebuilding a relationship with her son. Which happens to be a rocky relationship since leaving Seattle. She slowly rebuilds what they had before. Then you have a damage father-daughter relationship that is in desperate repairs before her father dies. I think that was one of the most emotional parts of the story. Finally, Henry. Now this is a complicated relationship with all the "I want you, but I can't right now."

Overall, an emotional read. With a lot of dynamics between the important characters in the story. I adore the story, because it was written in such a fantastic way. I mean Ms. Moss was able to keep me captivated with the whole story. I really didn't want to put the story down. So, if you are looking for an emotional good read, I would suggest The "What If" Guy.

Title: Temptation

Release Date: February 18, 2013
Imprint: Entangled Edge

Laura Hayes has been acting since she was an infant, making Hollywood the only home she has ever known. But when she moves to Pennsylvania's Amish country to film her next movie, she discovers there's more to life than a pair of Jimmy Choos and a Marie Claire cover.

Intrigued by the Amish simplicity, she's soon gardening and baking plum pies—and enjoying it. And when her neighbor turns out to be the local heartthrob and a talented furniture maker, she realizes that what's missing from her life might be the love of a good man—not to mention the perfect heirloom tomato.

Jacob fights the urge to question the teachings of his Amish beliefs—despite his desire to create furniture that is beautiful as well as useful—and struggles with his longing for the sexy stranger who makes him feel truly alive for the first time. As his attraction grows, so do his doubts, until he's forced to face temptation and decide once and for all what is truly worth the fight.

Review:

The past couple of days I have been reading Temptation by Kathryn Barrett. I must that it was awesome. Seriously, an amazing story. When I first started reading Temptation, I wasn't sure what to expect.

You first meet Laura Hayes who happens to visit an Amish community before they start filming The Temptation of Hannah. Which happens to be about an Amish woman who commits a terrible sin for something she really wants. So, she has been getting to know the people of the area.

While there Laura gets to know Jacob Hostetler and finds herself attracted to him. Jacob is dealing with a lot of questions and with Laura coming to town only confuses him more.

Loved this story. I was amazed on how well this book was written. I mean I don't normally go for the forbidden love, but man this was amazing. I love how Jacob is fighting his inner conflict with trying to do what is right and what he wants. Then you have Laura who trying to tempt him from breaking from his Ordnung. As she gets to know him and the roll she's playing she starts to find her real-self.

If you can't guess it, I love this book. I love the title and the cover, because it fits the story so well. Ms. Barrett obviously did her research to produce such a wonderful read. Once I dove right into the story, I found myself not wanting to stop reading. If you get a chance to read Temptation, I would say go for it. If are a fan of forbidden love, this book is right up your alley.
