Blurb
Do nice guys always finish last? In the new Extreme Risk novel from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Tracy Wolff, a burnt-out underdog and a vulnerable tomboy defy the pressure to be perfect and go after what they really want.

Bighearted and easygoing, Luc Jennings is falling behind in a family of serious overachievers. While he may be decent enough at snowboarding to turn pro and rack up some sponsors, he’s never topped any podiums—unlike his friends Z, Ash, and Cam. Luc’s always been head over heels for Cam Bradley, but she’s never seen him as anything more than a friend. Now, after years of coming in second, Luc can’t take it anymore—especially if it means watching Cam chase another guy.

Cam hangs out almost exclusively with dudes, and that’s fine by her. She’d much rather be shredding at the Olympics than primping in the mirror. Cam’s wildest dreams have a way of coming true—except when it comes to getting her longtime crush and best friend, Z Michaels, to notice her. Then her mother suddenly shows up after being gone for, like, ever, and Cam’s whole world comes crashing down. Desperate for a place to lay low, she turns to the one person who’s always had her back.

Try as he might to move on, Luc could never leave Cam hanging. He lets her crash at his place—and it isn’t long before she winds up in his bed. With Cam running scared and her icy facade starting to melt at last, Luc’s determined to finally win the only prize that matters.

Blurb
She closed her heart long ago. He just wants to open her mind. For fans of Toni Aleo and Sawyer Bennett, the debut of Sophia Henry’s red-hot Detroit Pilots series introduces a hockey team full of complicated men who fight for love.

Auden Berezin is used to losing people: her father, her mother, her first love. Now, just when she believes those childhood wounds are finally healing, she loses something else: the soccer scholarship that was her ticket to college. Scrambling to earn tuition money, she’s relieved to find a gig translating for a Russian minor-league hockey player—until she realizes that he’s the same dangerously sexy jerk who propositioned her at the bar the night before.

Equal parts muscle and scar tissue, Aleksandr Varenkov knows about trauma. Maybe that’s what draws him to Auden. He also lost his family too young, and he channeled the pain into his passions: first hockey, then vodka and women. But all that seems to just melt away the instant he kisses Auden and feels a jolt of desire as sudden and surprising as a hard check on the ice.

After everything she’s been through, Auden can’t bring herself to trust any man, let alone a hot-headed puck jockey with a bad reputation. Aleksandr just hopes she’ll give him a chance—long enough to prove he’s finally met the one who makes him want to change.

Tasty Book Tour Spotlight + Review + Giveaway: Awaken: The Soul Keepers by Lori Adams

Awaken
The Soulkeepers # 2
By: Lori Adams
Releasing July 15th, 2014
Loveswept

Blurb
The thrills continue in Lori Adams’s addictive series of paranormal romance—the Soulkeepers—featuring the hottest love triangle in this life . . . or the next.

Sophia St. James has every reason to be happy: she survived the kiss of death from the seductive Demon Knight Dante and is free to be with Michael, her sexy Guardian Angel. She eagerly begins her Awakening to become a Spirit Walker and help lost souls cross over. But her training is fraught with setbacks, and Michael begs her to stop. The life of a Spirit Walker is far too dangerous, and he won’t be able to protect her.

Then Dante returns, threatening to drag Sophia to Hell so they can finally be together. Terrified of losing everything she has worked for, Sophia turns the tables on Dante, luring him into a deception that may get them both killed. The stakes climb even higher when Dante’s ally, Wolfgang, emerges from Hell with one order: kill Sophia. Will Michael once again be Sophia’s saving grace or will the Awakening give her the power she needs to save herself?

My Thoughts:

First off, you will need to read Forbidden before progressing on to Awaken, because it picks up where Forbidden leaves off. Now I have gotten that off my chest. I don't know where to start. I mean a lot happens in the story. At the end of Forbidden you are left to believe Dante is dead, then again he's a demon and do they really die. Anyway, he's just biding his time time he can make a go again to get Sophia. During most of the story Michael and Sophia are apart, because they have different views on whats good for Sophia. Now Sophia wants to become a Spirit Walker, but Michael believes it's too dangerous. So, they have a disagreement and they basically breakup. So, this is a great time for Dante to move in on Sophia. I have to say that she does something that was probably unwise which leads us to needing the next book.

Honestly, I felt overwhelm with all that was going on in the story. Yet, Awaken is pretty awesome. I mean you have Dante breaking free from Hell. Michael is training to become a Halos of the Son and trying to convince Sophia not to become a Spirit Walker. Sophia is training to become a Spirit Walker even though both Dante and Michael don't want her to. For once Michael and Dante agree on something. However, this a pivotal part to the trilogy, and you will find a lot of action in this story. Plus, a lot of frustration from Michael, Sophia, and Dante. It's still a good story and it does make you wonder what's going to happen in the conclusion. Is Sophia going to remember the past with Dante or will she chose Michael and forge forward? Now I have to wait, exciting stuff awaits.

Forbidden: The Soulkeepers by Lori Adams

When I started reading Lori Adams Forbidden: The Soulkeepers, I was a little worry. Yes, worry. Why you ask? I was thinking I got myself into a Twilight kind of story, but with angels and demons. I have valid reasons for thinking this: 1) It takes place in high school 2) We have to guys vying for the heroine's attention 3) The hero basically tells the heroine stay away from me. Basically thrusting her into the other guys arms. However, my perspective started to change once I started to get more into the story. I still felt that it was Twilight-esque, but not so much. All right here we go:

We have Sophia St. James. She just moved to a whole new area and she's trying to figure her way through. She's dubbed "the Pastor's daughter" right away. Anyway, she meets Michael. She feels this instant connection, and he feels too. However, he can't do anything about it cause of his guardian angel status. He tries to avoid her the best of his abilities. Then Dante steps onto the scene. Now Dante and Sophia use to be an item way back when before he thrust down to hell. Now he's trying to get her back, because he loves her so much. So, you have this awkward love triangle going on. So, Dante trying everything in his power to get her back.

Okay, that was the simplest way to sum up the story. Basically you have good verses evil throughout the story. Michael and his family don't know what to think of Sophia. However, Dante and his crew are trying everything to get Sophia. I'm was surprise that I actually found myself enjoying the story, because I don't do well with high school drama. I think what did it for me, was more of the good trying win over evil. By the time I got to end of the story I was ready for more and I'm actually excited to see what happens next.

Overall, I believe those who enjoyed Twilight might actually enjoy this trilogy. So, if you are looking for a story that has angels going against demons and fighting over who should have the girl, you might consider reading Forbidden: The Soulkeepers a try. Seriously, I was surprise that I liked the story.

 Cursed by Cupid
by Wendy Sparrow
Publication: February 3rd, 2014 by Entangled Novellas

Dear Reader, this letter is to inform you of Cupid’s curse, which will fall upon you if you don’t pass this email on to three friends within three hours.

Tilly Morrow didn’t believe in the curse and now she hasn’t had a second date in three years…because all her first dates end in disaster. In fact, she just accidentally punched a guy in the face, leaving her without a date for Valentine’s Day!

Bryant Murphy isn’t sure if the curse is real or not, but if dating Tilly means occasionally getting assaulted with a chocolate shake or nearly electrocuted, it’s worth the risk. Armed with more lucky charms than a bowl of cereal, Bryant will have to battle flying swords, Russian mail-order brides, and shrimp linguini if he’s going to win the girl.

Cursed by Cupid by Wendy Sparrow

How many of you remember getting those email chained letters? I know I have gotten a few. Of course, I did what they said, but eventually I quit. I think eventually the whole fad died out, who knows. Anyway, in Wendy Sparrow's new novella Cursed by Cupid we meet a Tilly Morrow who decided to break a chain email. It has been three years since she's had any luck in love. Seriously, the girl is unlucky. Tilly believes its all due to the broken chain. Then she finally meets a guy, Bryant Murphy who's willing to take a chance on Tilly. Even if it means sacrificing a limb.

Cursed by Cupid is adorable. I love that the story centers around a broken chain letter and Tilly truly believe she's cursed. Then she meets Bryant and he's willing to take a chance. Even their date ends in disaster, but he still wants to see her. Although he gets a few injuries during this time, he still thinks Tilly is swell. Yes, adorable is a great word to describe this story. I personally thought it was a fun quick read. Overall, a light fun read. So, if you are like Tilly and believe in curses from chain letters, give Cursed by Cupid a chance. Who knows you might be able to undo your bad luck.

Kissed by Kim Knox

So, I finished Kissed by Kim Knox. Basically it's a novella about a princess, Beatrice, who's about to marry some other guy, but she really loves someone she's not suppose to, Farris Turner. However, the guy disappears and she's hopping around different time and space before she does her duty. She runs into a guy that reminds her of Turner.

So, you got the gist of the story. Honestly, it was okay. I thought the premise of the story was interesting, but once I started reading it didn't catch my attention. I guess if there was more to the story, I might feel differently about it. I don't know. I'm not sure if this is a positive or a negative, but the story was a quick read. Here's the bottom line: Yes, there is sex, it's kind of sci-fi, and it's short. So, if these are the things that appeal to you, you might give Kissed a try.

Pushing the Limits by Nancy Fraser

I finished reading Pushing the Limits by Nancy Fraser and I have to say that I enjoyed reading this story.

All right, Pushing the Limits had me chuckling with the situation with mistaken identities. You have Cade Tucker believing Julia McCormack is the secretary at a law firm. While you have Julia believing Cade to be the rent of Santa. Boy they were wrong. After the office part they have fabulous time together. After the holidays are over they find out the truth. Of course, they find that can't keep their hands off each other, but there is one problem "No fraternizing". Yep, that's a challenge.

This is a quick read that was highly enjoyable. I would consider this a little steamer than most flirts I have read, but that's ok it's still pretty good. Plus, Cade and Julia make a pretty awesome team in and out of the bedroom. So, if you are looking for something like Pushing the Limits give it a go.

The Earl's Christmas Colt by Rebecca Thomas

Last night, I finished The Earl's Christmas Colt by Rebecca Thomas. First off, this is a very sweet innocent story about a young woman whose brother basically arranges a marriage for her.

All right, this story is short and sweet. Lady Arabella Sutton tends to love horses a little more than people. So, she's a little different. Oliver Westwyck, the Earl of Marsdale is basically just looking for a wife and doesn't really want to go through the bout of courting another lady, since the first time didn't go so well. So, he agrees to marry Arabella no question ask. Seriously, that is the gist of the story. If I give any more than that, it will be the whole story. Here is the bottom line if you are still in the mood for a Christmas that is short, sweet and clean, you might give The Earl's Christmas Colt a try.

Neighbors by L.S. Murphy

All right, I just finished Neighbors by L.S. Murphy. I must say that it was a really cute read. At the beginning you have Rena Woods who's running a little late for work and she meets the new neighbors, Riker and his buddy. Let's just go with the fact that Riker and Rena didn't hit off right away. As the story progresses they start to become friends.

As I said a cute read, but I think this novella was a bit too short. The story has great potential, but I think it just happen too fast. I think if the story had been drawn out a little more it would have been fantastic. However, it was cute story in the end. So, if you are looking for a quick novella to read and don't mind being short, you might like Neighbors.

Santa to the Rescue by Adele Downs

Ok I just finished a really quick novella by Adele Downs. The story is called Santa to the Rescue. I don't know what I was expecting when I started this story, but I'm at a toss up. I thought the story was just okay. You have Jamey Tucker and Heather Longhurst kind of bump into each other at the grocery story. They both like each other. Honestly, there wasn't much to the story other than they like each and eventually end up together. No real conflict other than Jamey's work schedule, and everything magically works out in the end. Granted it is a novella, but it just I think I would have like a little more to story. I can only say that it was an okay clean read to me. If you don't mind a story that has no conflict and everything works out, you might like Santa to the Rescue for a quick read.

On His List by Wendy Sparrow

All right, I finished reading On His List by Wendy Sparrow. This story is super cute. You have Remy Maison who is filling in for her brother who happens to be a driver. Well, Denny ends up with a migraine and Remy has to drive Owen Savoy around. Owen tends to be a tad bit particular how things should go. Ok, he's a bit OCD.

This might be a bit off topic, but when I was reading the name Remy I thought of the rat in Ratatouille. No, she didn't look like a rat, but that's what popped in my head.

Anyway. Remy, I would consider her a bit ADHD. I have my reasons to believe this, so she's stuck in a car with Owen who might be a bit OCD. Yeah, that makes a fantastic combination. However, somehow it all works. As they get to know each other Owen starts to relax around her. Every person has that go to person that seems to calm them down, Remy and Owen seem to do that for each other.

Overall, On His List is a really sweet little story. It's a feel good read that makes you smile at the end. So, if you are looking for that feel story that leave a smile on your face, you might want to give On His List a try.
