Awakened by the Wolf by Kristal Hollis (Review)

I was able to finished Awakened by the Wolf by Kristal Hollis. I have to say that I enjoyed the story. In Awakened by the Wolf, we meet a group of werewolves known as the Wahyas. We learn about there customs, which is a little different from other shifter stories I have read. Anyway, we meet Brice Walker and he's under the impression that he's banished from his families land. However, he needs to see his grandmother when he stumbles upon our heroine, Cassie.

Okay, I struggle with Cassie through most of the book. She's fiercely independent, and feels that if she asks for help from anybody, she's weak. Which is completely misconstrued, but that is a completely different story. During the story we see her fighting Brice protective instincts and his feelings for her through most of the story. Now Brice I did like a lot. He was patient, and not so at times with Cassie. Yet majority of the time he was patient and giving her space.

Something that bothered me was something that happens close to the end and Cassie views Brice and his family as animals for what they had to do. In someways I thought it was naïve of her to think that the Wahyas were the only ones to be brutal than normal human beings. Yes, they are wolves, but humans to atrocious things to other humans too. To paint all shifters like that kind of raise my hackles a little, and to say that if she hadn't come in contact with them put her in danger. Honestly, she can't know that for fact. Anyway, at times she rubbed me the wrong way.

Overall, I liked Awakened by the Wolf. I did like that it was little different take on shifter breeds. It was a good start for new author. Overall, I liked Brice, and had to warm up to Cassie.

Jingle Spells by Vicki Lewis Thompson, Rhonda Nelson, Kira Sinclair, & Andrea Laurence

Okay, Jingle Spells is anthology about the Evergreen family and there goal is keep Christmas alive and the secret safe. So, each story focuses on one of the Evergreen siblings: Cole, Ethan, Dash, and Belle.

Naughty or Nice
by Vicki Lewis Thompson

This story is about reunited lovers. Cole Evergreen when a family emergency popped he left school. However, didn't just leave behind school, but the girl that accept him, Taryn Harper. Basically to get his attention, Taryn decided to hack into his company to find closer. Yes, I know a bit extreme. Honestly, they both needed closer to move on. However, Taryn wasn't going to let Cole go cause deep down she knows they are good together.

Cute story. Both Cole and Taryn are pretty hot for one another, but Cole is afraid his powers might scare Taryn away. Taryn wants to know why Cole abandon her all those years ago and see if they can work things out.

eARC: Heart of the Jaguar by Katie Reus

This morning I got a chance to read Katie Reus soon to be latest novella Heart of the Jaguar. Since this a novella, I'm not going to bore you with my personal synopsis of the story. However, I will share my thoughts.

Overall, I liked the story. I love the magnetism between Cindy and Elias. Both of them felt this pull towards one another even though they are different shifters. I guess when you find your mate, it doesn't matter if they are different type of shifter.  I enjoyed the fact that Cindy was trying to fight the pull to be with Elias, because she thought she what was best for the both of them. I love Elias, because he didn't care about her one flaw. He loved her no matter what.

Plus, I like the sense there was danger among them. Even though they are both shifters, they aren't complete invincible to some dangers. As I said I enjoyed this story. Now I need to go back and read the others. So, if you are looking for a quick read with a hint of danger and shifters, you might want like to read Heart of the Jaguar.
