A Midnight Clear by Hope Ramsay (Review)
In Hope Ramsay's A Midnight Clear is a sweet little Christmas read that brings two people together in Last Chance. We meet Dr. Tom Crawford who has arrived at Last Chance to become the new doctor. Once thing that the town holds against him is he's a yankee from the north. Poor guy. We also get a chance to get to know Teri Summers who is a local florist with a son who is on the spectrum. Aiden who has a thing about angels, doesn't like the color read, and the song that calms him down is It Came Upon a Midnight Clear.
I enjoyed A Midnight Clear, because we get to see the good people of Last Chance celebrate Christmas. You feel for Teri, because her family didn't want her son to ruin Christmas so basically asked her not to come. Now what kind of family does that. Seriously, they totally missed the point of Christmas and shame on them. Okay that's enough about my soapbox. Anyway, we see that she's hurt and so she makes the best of the situation. Now Tom is sweet on Teri, but Teri uses her son as a shield to ward off anyone who wants to get close her. However, he's willing to use her shield against her.
Actually, A Midnight Clear is a sweet story that gives hope during this holiday season. If are still in the mood for a holiday read you might give A Midnight Clear a try. A sweet little story that will bring a smile to your face.

Audiobook: Heaven, Texas by Susan Elizabeth Phillips (Review)
Where to begin with Heaven, Texas by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I have to say that I loved this story. Heaven, Texas had me bustin' a gut, because of Bobby Tom Denton and Gracie Snow relationship. Dear lord have mercy on us for having men like Bobby Tom Denton. Bobby Tom is the epitome of a male chauvinist pig. At the start of the story we meet him surrounded by beautiful, busty, blond hair women in itty-bitty bikinis. He has no shame. Even though he's a male chauvinist pig everybody loves him, it's that damn charm of his. However, Gracie is a little smarter than that, kind of.
Now Gracie gets mistaken for a stripper when she first meets Bobby Tom, but she was hired to escort him to his hometown. Plus, she knows she's not Bobby Tom's type, after all she's not busty or blond. Gracie's more like a plain jane. However, she's a fun little character, because she has decided to breakout of her comfort shell. Bobby Tom definitely shows her the wild side.
Basically, Heaven, Texas is a wild ride. We have Bobby Tom and Gracie pretending to be engage during his time in Telarosa. Now Bobby Tom is use to getting his way in everything, but Gracie seem to put him in his place. Probably because she just doesn't see herself as Bobby Tom material. He has the hardest time trying to understand Gracie. However, they are just so darn cute together once she starts developing confidence.
I actually, loved the secondary love story going on between Wade Sawyer and Bobby Tom's mother, Susie Denton. At the beginning of the story Wade is painted as this bad guy of the town. He just lives it up and he's been in love with Susie forever he wanted a chance. However, he went about it the wrong way and it's a bit rocky. Susie is still dealing with the grief of lost of her husband, so she feels guilty about moving on. Wade is my favorite character, even though he seems evil and vindictive he's actually a decent guy who had a rough time growing up.
Seriously, I loved Heaven, Texas it was laugh out loud over the top good time. Yes, some of the story is unbelievable, but it takes place in the south. Somethings just seems over the top unbelievable, but it sometimes happens. Yes, Bobby Tom isn't a good guy, but he does have a moral code that might be a bit eschewed. I did like how Gracie was able to bring him down to earth and manage to tame his ego that seems to be the size of Texas. If you are looking for a good time, you give Heaven, Texas a try.
I did enjoy Annie Fields as a narrator. She did great job on all those southern accents. I did like how she did Gracie's voice. I think one favor voices were the bimbos voices, they were just funny. Good times all around.

Spotlight + Review + Excerpt + Giveaway: A Whisper of Desire by Bronwen Evans
A Whisper of Desire
A Disgraced Lords, 4
Bronwen Evans
Loveswept
BLURB:
Sensual heat melts the ice in the new Disgraced Lords novel
from USA Today bestselling author Bronwen Evans, as a marriage of convenience
leads to delightful pleasure—and mortal danger.
Lady Marisa Hawkestone’s nightmare is just beginning when
she wakes up naked, with no memory of the night before, lying next to Maitland
Spencer, the Duke of Lyttleton—a man so aloof and rational he’s nicknamed “the
Cold Duke.” A scandal ensues, in which Marisa’s beloved beau deserts her. As a
compromised woman, Marisa agrees to marry Maitland. But on her wedding night,
Marisa discovers the one place the duke shows emotion: in the bedroom, where
the man positively scorches the sheets.
Taught from a young age to take duty seriously, Maitland
cannot understand his new wife’s demands on his love and affection. Marisa’s
hot-blooded spirit, however, does have its attractions—especially at night. In
retrospect, it seems quite silly that he didn’t marry sooner. But being one of
the Libertine Scholars requires constant vigilance, even more so when the enemy
with a grudge against his closest friends targets Marisa. Now Maitland must
save the woman who sets his heart aflame—or die trying.

BOOK BLURB:
To Catch His Mate by Savannah Stuart (Review)
I received a chance to read To Catch His Mate by Savannah Stuart. First off, it's a novella and a pretty quick one with little drama. Basically, we have Reese O'Shea who is an alpha pack leader. You would hope pack leader is an alpha, anyway. He finds Alyssa Clare and she's pack princess of the Clare pack, and he wants to make her his mate. However, Alyssa gets the impression that it's a business arrangement than anything else. There you go the drama in the nutshell.
Basically, Reese needs to prove to Alyssa that it's more than a business agreement in order to get their happy ever after. Seriously, a quick read and it's kind of sweet. So, if you are looking for something that isn't too dramatic and quick, To Catch His Mate is your read.

Audiobook: An Invitation to Seduction by Lorraine Heath (Review)
I struggled with An Invitation to Seduction by Lorraine Heath. Don't get me wrong, I love her writing and she's able to make impossible situations work. However, this one didn't work for me. You know it's not working for you when it takes you two weeks to listen to the story.
Lets start with the positives. Her writing is still amazing and the narrator they had selected to read the part did an excellent job at reading. She did a marvelous job between switching between an English and Texan accent. There were a couple of times that she didn't switch properly, but other than that a decent job.
Now my struggles. I struggled between Kitty, Richard, and Nicky, and their relationship. All them were pretty selfish in their own ways. We have Kitty who wanted to marry to feel safe, and she felt safe with Nicky. Truth be told, Nicky kind of regarded Kitty like sister, but she was a convenient person to marry. I had a problem with Kitty protesting she was in love with Nicky and try to force herself to believe it. At the same time she felt passion for Richard, but she was afraid of her passion which stems from her mother being a saloon girl. She has strong feelings for Richard, but willing to marry Nicky because he was safe. Think of England. Richard was selfish cause he wanted Kitty, because he thought she would make the perfect duchess. Basically, he pursued her when she was Nicky's girl. Richard had information that no one else had.
It wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't my favorite. Kitty grated on my nerves and I just wanted to shake her and tell her it's okay to feel passion and safe choices aren't always the best choice. I did like how Richard was understanding during her time of need. He wasn't without flaws, but I did like him the most in the story. He was always trying to think of ways to keep Kitty comfortable. Like I said it wasn't my favorite, but it's not going to make me stop reading other Lorraine Heath books. I do love her books, just not this one. I know the next one will be more to my liken. Yes, this story has worked for others, just not me.

She appeals to his wicked inclinations, but he never expects she might snare his heart…
Suspected of his brother’s murder, Lancelot Hemingford, Duke of Aylesbury, was forced to give up his hell-raising habits in London for the anonymity of quiet country living. So, when an opportunity arises to clear his name in exchange for proposing to the niece of a neighbor, he sees no choice but to accept. Plus, seducing the reluctant maiden will be a most intriguing challenge…
As Marianne Radley is dependent on her uncle, she must accept the Duke’s marriage proposal at her family’s request, despite her belief he is irredeemably wicked. But along with marrying him, she intends to sniff out the duke’s unsavory secrets and expose them to the world: a plan that would be flawless were it not for one minor detail—even she, with all her determination, is not immune to the charms of a rakish duke…

The Rogue Not Taken by Sarah MacLean (Review)
In Sarah MacLean's The Rogue Not Taken I found myself captivated from the first page. I mean we meet Sophie Talbot. but society dubs her as one of the "Spoiled S" or the "Dangerous Daughter". She has no desired to be called that. Actually, she rather be in the background and not be noticed, but she became noticeable when she shoved the Duke of Haven in the fishes. Which has made her the most scandalous sister of them all. I mean it's not everyday you call your brother in law a philandering ass. She didn't use those words I did. Anyway, the family being on the fringe of society and she might have outcasted them. We don't quite for sure since she made her big mistake from the Liverpool party. You think that was a splash to the beginning wait till you encounter the rest of the story.
I absolutely adore Sophie, because she wants nothing to do with society. Yet King doesn't believe her intentions. At times he seems cruel and mean. Those would be apt descriptions, but it's not until his backstory is fully reveal. Even that doesn't show the degree he's been manipulated when it came to "love". It's quite devastating to think about it, so he has no desire to be trapped by some upstart. Throughout the journey Sophie is try to tell him he's being ridiculous and has no desire to trap him. I feel for Sophia and her shabbily treatment, but she makes the best of the situation.
Along the journey, you watch these two get underneath each others skins, and you wonder how are they every going to fit together. It's a long journey for them, but an entertaining one. I mean we have Sophie dressing up like a livery in order to make her grand escape that she didn't exactly planned on. Whoops. I found The Rogue Not Taken enjoyable journey across to the great north. I was entertained by the fact that no one notice that Sophie was a girl. The bickering match between her and King were always something to watch. Those who have enjoyed Sarah's previous books will certainly find this a delight. They will root for Sophie and might want to hit King upside the head at times, but they will be hooked with this story. I can't wait to see what scandals Sarah will cook up next.
