THE BACHELOR AUCTION

Rachel Van Dyken
Forever Mass Market Paperback
January 31, 2017

NOW IN PAPERBACK!

The first book in an all-new contemporary romance series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken.

Cinderella never had to deal with this crap.

Jane isn't entirely sure that Cinderella got such a raw deal. Sure, she had a rough start, but didn't she eventually land a prince and a happily-ever-after? Meanwhile, Jane is busy waiting on her demanding, entitled sisters, running her cleaning business, and . . . yep, not a prince in sight. Until a party and a broken shoe incident leave Jane wondering if princes---or at least, a certain deliciously hunky billionaire---maybe do exist.

Except Brock Wellington isn't anyone's dream guy. Hell, a prince would never agree to be auctioned off in marriage to the highest bidder. Or act like an arrogant jerk---even if it was just a façade. Now, as Brock is waiting for the auction chopping block, he figures it's karmic retribution that he's tempted by a sexy, sassy woman he can't have. But while they can't have a fairy-tale ending, maybe they can indulge in a little bit of fantasy . . .

Breathless by Beverly Jenkins (Review)

I was given the opportunity to read Breathless by Beverly Jenkins. I didn't read Forbidden, so I don't know if Portia pops up in the story. However, Breathless focuses on Portia and Kent. When Kent first met Portia she was scared of men and young, but now she's all grown up and mighty fine. Kent had some growing up to do before he could present himself to be a suitable suitor. After all, he liked to play the field while he was younger. Kent has his work cut out for him, because Portia has no desire to marry, after all what her mother did to her and her sister. Pretty heartless.

Anyway, Breathless was a pretty good story. I did like the chemistry between Portia and Kent. I love that he was willing to find a way to break through Portia's wall. I loved Portia's younger sister and I do hope there is a story in the works for her, because it could be so good. I can't tell you why. We find a budding romance, but being the old west there is some danger lurking around. Those who have been a fan of Beverly's books will probably enjoy Breathless.

Lethal Game by Katie Reus (Review)

You never know what is going to happen in the last book in the series, a lot can happen. Sometimes it can be a hit or a miss, but with Lethal Game it was definitely a hit for me. Yes, it's sad to to see these guys leave, but they are leaving on a high note. Katie did not disappoint in Lethal Game. There were times I had to hold my breath till the next chapter she had me hanging on by a thread. Yes, suspense was there. The romance part was pretty good. Okay the romance was a little rocky because Isa and Graysen had a past. Graysen had his work cut out after all there past dealt with her father's misdeeds.

Overall, loved Lethal Game. Seriously, a perfect ending to the series. Action, suspense, and romance in a perfect combination. Katie did a nice job closing this series off. I think this is my favorite out of the series.

Just Thinking: New Year, New Me! Right.

Happy belated New Year! Well, I'm glad 2016 is over. For me it was the year of Meh. A lot happen in that year don't get me wrong, but it didn't feel right. We moved to Oklahoma and I'm finding that I'm loving it. Reading didn't go so hot for me. It was hard to find a lot of reading time during last year, especially while we lived in a hotel *shudders*. If anyone tells you that living in a hotel is awesome is a LIAR or has never done it. I could never get in the mood to read. I had found some great books, but a lot of so-so.

However, New Year, new goals. Last year I did start and Instagram account. Which has a lot more of my obsession of LulaRoe. Seriously, their clothing are comfy. I wasn't sure about them until I tried on a pair of leggings. They are made from unicorn tears of joy. However, I hope to use it towards my reading stuff. I also decided to join Snapchat too. It's more for me being silly and posting on Facebook or Instagram.

Now reading goals. I'm only going to do the Goodreads Reading Challenge. Last year I tried to do another reader challenge. I was shamefully bad at the Blogger Shame. Might even post about my latest obsession, who knows. However, I know that this year I aim to get more reading done and not stress about it. I think that was part of my problem was I stressed about it. Time to let it go and move on.

What are your goals for this year? I mention a couple of mine, so share with me.

A Spiced Apple Winter by Emma Cane (Review)

This is a the first time I have read an Emma Cane book. I have read other stories by this author written under Gayle Callen, and I enjoyed those stories. However, there is something magical about small town romances and all the trouble they can stir. Yet, there wasn't a lot of trouble in A Spiced Apple Winter. Nope, there's just these two people who have been friends together forever, and one night had a little fun. Now both parties are trying to forget, but can't quite forget.

Tyler Fairfield has come home to do his duty for the family farm. He has a set time limit, and eventually would like to get back to his life in New York. At the same time he needs to keep his distance from a certain red-head, this makes for some awkward encounters. Now Brianna MacDougall has a lot on her plate, and she's trying her best to keep cool. Again there is an awkwardness between her and Tyler. Sleeping with friends changes things. Of course, Tyler thought the best course of action is help another friend and pretend to be in a relationship. This should help him keep his distance from Brianna.

Talk about things being complicated. However, they seem to start to workout as the story progresses. However, it wouldn't be much of a story if there wasn't a little scandal. Anyway, A Spiced Apple Winter definitely put a smile on my face. I love the small town story, but it wasn't loaded with drama. Yes, there is a happy ending. By the time I finished the story, A Spiced Apple Winter definitely had me yearning for more. Do I plan to checkout the backlist Emma Cane books, oh yeah. A great balance of romance, trouble, story.
