As the top collegiate shortstop in the country, Ryan O’Donnell’s life is about discipline and training. But a growing restlessness causes him to bail on his baseball team over spring break to join his buddies at an exclusive singles resort. He just needs a few days to escape his life, and then he’ll get right back on track. But not twenty minutes after he arrives he meets HER, and the world as he knows it changes irrevocably. It should only be a hookup—that’s what spring break’s all about—but one taste of this sexy, vibrant woman isn’t enough. He has to have her. Even if it’s only for a week.

Sophie Valentine—yes, that Valentine—just found out her siblings want to sell off Crazy Hearts—the Peeps of the Valentine’s Day world. Being the youngest by eight years, she’s used to feeling left out, but selling off her family’s legacy without talking to her first? Not gonna happen. Upset, she takes off with her friends on their spring break vacation. She only wanted an escape—she never imagined meeting HIM. He’s smoking hot and intensely protective of her—and she loves it. But he’s about to start a major league baseball career, and she’s launching a battle to keep the family company. They have no future. It’s just…she’s never felt this way for anyone before.

Are they really going to walk away from this kind of connection…this passion? Or can a week turn into a lifetime?

My Thoughts:

Shocking the Medic by Elizabeth Otto (Review)

I'm so glad Elizabeth Otto is back to writing. For a little while her life got a little crazy, so writing had to be put on hold. She definitely has a talent for writing for writing a steamy fun story. We have best friends Luke Almeda and Greer Imogen who grew up in the same neighborhood. Luke's family inherited the house, but had to work very hard to keep it. Now Greer's family came from money. Basically, Luke didn't feel like he was good enough to be more than Greer's friend. Anyway, they live separate lives up until Greer decides to join her friend in medic field, and it becomes harder for Luke to try to keep Greer in the friend zone. Both are extremely attracted to one another, and Luke doesn't feel like he's good enough to be with Greer. Honestly Greer doesn't care.

Basically, I liked Shocking the Medic. For a friends to lover story I thought it was pretty good. We have to conflict of getting caught at work, trying to overcome that one is better than the other (even though it's only Luke's mind), some hot steamy scenes. I thought Shocking the Medic was a good balance. Plus, I like Luke and Greer. The story could have gone in so many directions with these two characters. The sexual tension was off the charts between these two. Overall, a pretty good read.

My Thoughts:

A Gentleman Never Surrenders by Lauren Smith (Review)

After reading An Earl By Any Other Name I was super excited to read the next story. When found out the next story was about Owen, I couldn't wait. I mean Owen did something extremely stupid in the first book, and he kind of deserved what he got. I mean desperate times call for desperate measure. Anyway, when I read the blurb I was like who's Milly. Still super excited, then I started reading I was like, "Oh it's her". Yes, I wasn't too sure about the heroine. If you read An Earl By Any Other Name you might agree with me on this. Serious, Milly happens to be Mildred Pepperwirth, and she's definitely not a pleasant kind of person, or so I thought.

All right so Owen needs funds and Milly has a ton of funds; however, Milly wants to marry for love. After all she wants a relationship like her mother and father. She thought that if any guy wanted to get to know the real her would try to see past her prickly exterior. Yes, Owen is a fortune-hunter, but it wasn't his doing. He wants a wife who is willing to share her fortune to help restore his land. Basically, he tries to compromise Milly's younger sister, but got Milly instead. Now he's trying to make the situation the best he can. Milly is devastated, because her dream is over. Yes, I can go on, but I think you get the gist.

Actually, Owen and Milly are a better match for one another, and they do get to know one another. However, it's not all sunshine and roses, they have to learn to get to know one another and build trust. Seriously, not an easy task when one decided to try to compromise the other.

Overall, I did like A Gentleman Never Surrenders, because we get to see sides of Milly and Owen we didn't get to see. Milly is an actually a decent person. She's not the mean cold-hearted person we see in the first book. I have to say that I actually love Owen. He's a really good guy, stupid at times, but an overall good guy. Now I do have one grip. This story should have definitely longer, or at least an epilogue. Seriously, something happens at the end I'm like "What the heck, seriously!".  So, I'm hoping one of the characters does get a story, and maybe it would give a better understanding of the ending of A Gentleman Never Surrenders.🤞  Other than that it was a pretty good read, and by the end I liked Milly and Owen.

Blood Guard by Megan Erickson (Review)

I guess I haven't read anything from Megan Erickson, but I have a ton of friends who have read her and love her. So, I decided to take a chance on Blood Guard. Actually, she had me with vampires. If that wasn't enough, the cover for Blood Guard was clincher. Seriously, this cover is yummy. Vampires and hot cover got me to read the story, but it was pretty good. I can't wait for book 2, because that should be good.

Anyway, we have Tendra who is basically living day to day. She's trying to decide if it's time to uproot herself and leave, because she has a feeling she should. However, she gets taken by this guy Athan. Athan isn't a typical guy, I mean he's a vampire. She's trying not freakout, and while given information that she's suppose to help save the human and the vampires. We have one sect that wants to enslave humans since they are inferior to vampires, and we have another group that wants to live with the humans. As the story continues we see that war is upon us.

I liked Blood Guard. I like how it's setting up the series. We have Tendra and Athan who are trying to do their duty to save everyone. However, key information is being with held, and we don't realize it until towards the end. That's when all chaos starts to ensue. Tendra and Athan's relationship a complicated one. Tendra is intended for Athan's brother, but he's lusting after her hard. Yet, Athan is duty bound to do what needs to be done even if it would cost him his life. Anyway, I actually like these two together once most of the information is laid out, again I said some stuff is missing. Overall, a pretty good start to a beginning of a new series. I like how things were getting laid out in this and I can't wait to see what Athan's brother does. He seems like a hot head and that should be interesting.

Love is worth a little scandal.

Owen Hadley needs a wife. Preferably a wealthy one. Alas, there aren't a great number of heiresses willing to marry a rogue of no particular fortune---luckily, if there is ever a gentleman capable of melting a lady's chilly heart, it's Owen.

Milly has had enough of the marriage mart. If matrimony means giving up her freedom for a foppish husband, then society can take their idea of marital bliss and toss it. But when the ton's most notorious rogue mistakenly makes his way into her bedchambers, Milly finds herself unexpectedly and unwillingly at the altar . . .

Yet the more time she spends with her new husband, the more Milly starts to wonder if the marriage she never wanted may be the best thing that's ever happened to her. The Real Thing by Melissa Foster (Review)

I have to say that The Real Thing was an adorable read. I mean we have a big Hollywood actor who needed to clean up his act, and figures asking his best friend sister to play his fake fiancee would be the perfect way to go. Seriously, what could go wrong.

So, we have Zane Walker who is hunky and a big Hollywood actor who would like to branch out to more romantic movies, but his playboy lifestyle is hampering his aspirations. Like most guys he figures the simplest way to get this would go after Willow Dalton. Willow is a small town girl through and through. She's willing to do anything for for Zane, because he's the first love of her life. However, she needs to protect herself from Zane's life, so there has to be boundaries and rules. Yeah, we all know how well that goes. As we watch the story progress they have to decided if what they are sharing is worth going after for reals.

Like most of Melissa's character is Zane is hunky guy, and has to realize what he wants in life. One of the parts of the story I liked was when he has to decides what his purpose is, what he wants to do. After all he's young and hunky the sky is the limit. Then we have Willow who is über adorable. She has a little self conscious about her appearance. She's with Zane and she feels like she doesn't match up well with him. However, Zane sees her as perfect. Aww.

Like a said The Real Thing was an adorable read. Zane has me eating out of his palm of his hands, because he's so sweet and caring towards Willow. Willow made me want to bake, after all she would talk about all those sweets. I looking forward to more of this series. If you are in need of a cute read, The Real Thing might be what you are looking for.

Lady Eleanor's Seventh Suitor by Anna Bradley (Review)

I actually read Lady Eleanor's Seventh Suitor last week, and I have to say that it a pretty good read. Anyway, I wanted to read this book, because of the cover of course. Seriously, the cover is amazing. Then the title intrigued me, along with the blurb. Who doesn't like a good blackmailing story. Oh my gosh so the hero, well he's kind of a jerk. He's basically blackmailing Eleanor to marry him, because he has a secret agenda. His reasoning for blackmailing her is pretty twisted. As he's forcing her into their arrangement, he gets to know her. Yes, he feels guilty about what he's doing. Love Eleanor, because she's trying to figure a way out of the blackmailing situation and save her sister's reputation. She's one tough cookie and smart. She was willing to dumb herself down to get out of this marriage. Between these characters is a giant battle of wits, and Eleanor definitely keeps Cam on his toes. I actually like these two together. However, there were times I wanted to beat Cam to a pulp, and trust me he would deserve it. However, he does come to his senses, and does the right thing. Trust me it's not the easiest thing for him to do, but good thing he has a loving younger sister that is willing fight for him.

Yes, I enjoyed this story, and I can't wait for Eleanor's sister's story. She's a twit, and she has some serious growing to do. Now the hero does need to be slap upside his head a couple of times in the book, but the heroine totally makes this read. She's smart and quick, and is willing to do what it takes to save her family. Overall, Lady Eleanor's Seventh Suitor is a definite win for a read.
