Her Renegade Cowboy by Lora Leigh (Review)

This book was a mistake for me, and probably should have stopped after a few chapters. I regret not DNFing Her Renegade Cowboy. I thought this would have more suspense than what was in here. However, you know what got me to read this book was the cover, and the promising book blurb. 

Yes, Levi Roberts is an undercover US Marshall, and former Army Ranger. He's playing a cowboy on Lily's cousin's ranch. He's not there most of time cause he's at Lily's house getting it on. Lily is a school teacher. You are probably thinking she's sweet and kind. Wrong! She's sassy, and a firer ball. She could be with her students, but you don't really see her interacting with her students. 

Majority of this book takes place around Lily's house. Honestly, you don't really feel the impending doom that her life is in until the last portions of the book. I probably should have put this story down, after the first time. I trudged on trying to read the story. If you are looking for a story that has more suspense you aren't going to find it here. Now if you are looking for hot steamy read, and not really going anywhere, this my friend is your read.

Audiobook Review: Roulette by Megan Mulry

I did not even complete this book. I got up to Chapter 7, and basically clapped my hands and said I'm done. I would have liked to said that it wasn't bad, but then again, I didn't even finished. I had a problem with Miki. I can tolerate a lot, but she was supposed to be a 30 year about to get 10 year at the university she was working. Yet, she read more like an early 20 year old finished with college trying to figure out what to do next. Yeah, not cutting it. I probably would have cut it a little longer had she not cheated on her boyfriend who just asked her to move in. Seriously, she had to talk herself into saying yes. Miki should said no and broke it off. Yet here she is in Russia, and a hot French playboy and she decides to say, "What happens in Russia stays in Russia." Cheating is never the answer. I couldn't hang anymore after that, so I stopped.

Since this was an audiobook, I was listening to Neva Navarre who wasn't bad, but I didn't like Roulette. I think she would do a pretty good job with younger heroines, I might give the Neva a try on another story.

Since I'm in the minority on disliking Roulette, it didn't work for me. Others loved this story, but I'm wasn't a fan of Miki to beginning with. Sleeping with another guy, because he was hot and a one time thing. Yeah, I'm all for getting out a relationship before sleeping with some else. This is where I stand on this story.

Almost A Bride by Jo Watson (Review)

Almost A Bride showed great potential to being a fun romantic comedy, but I felt I was overwhelmed with all the cliches in the story. I love cliches. I mean that is what romantic comedies tend to have. A few would have been all right, but there were so many.

Like I said, Almost A Bride showed great potential with the Annie catching her boyfriend cheating on her in their bed, and having kinking sex, and there is so much more to this opening. Truly, it starts to spiral out of control at the beginning. However, I decided to stick on this train. About half the book, I could see the derailment of the story, but decided to stay on hoping that it won't happen. I probably should have DFN this book, but I hoped beyond all hope that it wouldn't go into crazy town too.

I don't know how to put into words on some of the ridiculousness of this story. Chris pretends to be Boyden from Australia with a terrible accent. I wish Annie would have said dude, I broke up with Boyden (by the way he's an imaginary boyfriend), and introduced Chris as her new boyfriend. Trevv and Tess are interjected into the story so many times. By the way Trevv is cheating sack of scum, and Tess is the hookup from work. You see them so much, by the end we don't even know if they are still together. The author spent so much time having part of the story, that we don't get to know what happen to them. Granted they did have stalk-ish feel to them. Still. However, Chris and Annie did have a happy ending, and I did like how Chris won Annie back. Very classic romantic comedy jester, with a grand love and sorry please take me back kind of deal.

Overall, I felt Almost A Bride was a train wrecked that derailed in crazy town. Did this story work for me. NO. I wanted it. The blurb sound like it could be amazing. However, it was too much and I felt overwhelmed. Yes, Almost A Bride worked for others. So, you might want to checkout their reviews to see what they loved about the story.

Tame the Shame (Blogger Shame Review Challenge): Sinner's Steel by Sarah Castille

It seems like I will be lucky if I can accomplish half of my shame, this is definitely not the year to have start the challenge. Oh well, I will be happy if I can get any other shameful reads done. Anyway, today I have finished Sinner's Steel by Sarah Castille. I figure I should get this one done, because the new one is coming out soon. This is a series that needs to be read in order. So, let's get my thoughts going.

Delectable by Adrianne Lee

For the past few days I have been sitting on my thoughts on Delectable by Adrianne Lee. I guess I struggle to find something good to say about the story, because I seriously struggle with the story. I get that the story was suppose to be cute and fun, but I just didn't see it. I could see the potential in it being cute. However, it just fell flat in my opinion (which is not the same as anyone else's).

I struggle with the main characters, you have Quint McCoy and his wife Callee. They were having marital issues before Quint's father passed away, but that seem to be the catalyst for everything to fall apart. There was heated words said and basically they gave up. I understand that death in the family can either draw a family together or tear it apart. I mean they didn't even tried to workout their issues. When he got back from his trip and sort of stop grieving his wife up and left him. Yes, he said some stupid things, but she should have chalked up to him grieving instead "saying oh well it wasn't meant to be." When she was back in town all they did was nitpick or they couldn't keep their hands off each other. That was one of my main issues with story. The other was his mother turned his office into a pie shop while he was gone. Who does that? I could probably go on, but I'm going to stop.

As I said before Delectable, I did see potential to be a fun story. However, I just didn't feel the story. Even though it was a short read, I struggle to keep going. Honestly, I was kind of bored with Quint and Callee.

Audiobooks: Island Flame by Karen Robards

I have come to the conclusion that I have lied to you all. Yes, I go into a novel with expectations. However, my expectations aren't really that high for romance. All I expect is that they leave me with that warm fuzzy feeling that I crave from a romance. With that said, I finished listening to Island Flame by Karen Robards.

I purchased this audiobook for a swashbuckling good time for my road trip, instead I ended up bitter and angry through most of the book. Even the ending didn't appease me with a warm-fuzzy feeling.  When I purchased the book, I saw that it was an alright price for an unabridged audiobook and I enjoyed another book from this author, so I thought why not. First off this will be one review where I'm pretty sure there will be spoilers, because there is no way around it.

Now you wonder how this story chaffed me the wrong way, so let me tell you: First off, the hero is an @ssh*le. I have seen a lot of jerk heroes, but they usually win me over in the end. I'm sorry when you keep calling the heroine a B*t@h in pretty much every chapter that gets kind of old and that's never going to win me over. Even if you are pirate, it won't cut it for me. Next thing that really chaffed my hid was he raped the heroine. Yes, I said RAPE. I don't care how much the hero says that heroine "wanted it", it doesn't give the right to rape. Those are pretty big issues with the story. Plus, you wondering why I continue to listen to the story; well, the simple fact is I hadn't gotten another book at the time. So, I endure the story hoping it would get better. There were times I had to stop listening to the story, because it just grated on my nerves.

I can honestly say that the hero, Jonathan Hale, didn't win me over. He did some nice things, but they don't outweigh the horrible things he did and said. Lady Catherine Adley was a bit annoying. Granted she was 17 when she met Jon. I have no issue with him being half her age, because that actually happen in life. I just couldn't understand why she tolerated his abuse. I mean he was cruel to her.

Another issue I had with the book was the father. He was another @ssh*le. When he finally found his daughter, he had Jon locked up and beating after the marriage. Not only that the father basically told Jon that it was Cathy wishes that he suffer. WTF, kind of father does that. He really did think he was doing what was best for his daughter.

I rarely give one stars for a book. The cruelty of the things that happen in the story was horrible. I was really sad that I endured the story for more than 12hours. Twelve hours I will never get back. You are probably wondering why, I didn't listen to the sample. To be honest, I wouldn't have known about the rape until about a half an hour into the story. Otherwise, I would have stop. I truly did hope that Island Flame would get better. I can't recommend the story, because I have issues with rape and calling the heroine a b*t@h in practically every chapter. I hope my next audiobook will be better than this.
