Forever Romance Review + Giveaway: The Millionaire Affair by Jessica Lemmon

Millionaire ad executive Landon Downey has a policy: no romantic relationships allowed. So when he's saddled with his six-year-old nephew for a week, he doesn't think twice about asking a female friend to act as live-in nanny. What he doesn't expect is the palpable attraction to the woman he hasn't seen in sixteen years. And not only does she like him back, she suggests they work their way down a list of extracurricular activities in the bedroom. How can he resist?

Kimber Reynolds knows what she's doing. Sort of. Tired of every failed attempt to turn her past relationships into her own happily-ever-afters, she's determined to prove once and for all that she can love em and leave  em with the best of them. All she has to do is keep her heart out of the agreement she's made with the man she's crushed on for a decade and a half. No problem. Their string-free arrangement turns downright stringy when Landon starts to feel more for the redhead than good old fashioned lust, and Kimber has a scare involving a plastic stick and one-or-more blue lines. With the pressure mounting and their hearts involved, will these two be able to keep their original promise and walk away from one another?

My Thoughts:

I have read the previous books, and I can honestly say that I don't remember Landon. If he was in the previous stories, he was a minor character. So, I was shocked to read that Angel, Aiden, and Evan had an older brother who's a millionaire. Anyway, now that I'm over my shock I guess I should tell you what I thought of the story.

I think this might be my favorite story, and I did love Shane's story. What I loved about this story is you have Landon who is emotionally closed off and he ends up with an emotionally open person. Kimber is very emotionally open. I love this line from her:
Her secret superpower was the ability to morph a perfectly okay  short-term relationship into a doomed one that zombie-dragged it's decaying self to inevitable demise.
So, yeah she could be a little clingy, but she wanted to work on that and who would be the perfect person other than emotionally shutoff Landon. Honestly, like how you have two people fall for one another who are polar opposites. You have Landon who is the planner, and will dot every "I" and cross every "T". While Kimber goes with the flow and take things as they come.

The Millionaire Affair had me feeling an array of emotion. It wasn't Kimber's doing, but Landon. It was like he had an emotional awaking. He was a hollow shell of himself before Kimber helped him open up. Kimber even went through some growth in the book, because she had to learn to trust herself. Overall, a great book. I laugh and cried. I didn't expect to shed a tear, but Jessica got a few tears out of me. So, if you are looking for something to read, you might give The Millionaire Affair a try. Another bonus, the story can be read as a standalone.

About Jessica Lemmon:

Jessica Lemmon has always been a dreamer. At some point, she decided head-in-the-clouds thinking was childish, went out, and got herself a job . . . and then she got another one because that one was lousy. And when that one stopped being fulfilling, she went out and got another . . . and another. Soon it became apparent she'd only be truly happy doing what she loved. And since "eating potato chips" isn't a viable career, she opted to become a writer. With fire in her heart, she dusted off a book she'd started years prior, finished it, and submitted it. It may have been the worst book ever, but it didn't stop her from writing another one. Now she has several books finished, several more started, and even more marinating in her brain (which currently resides in the clouds, thankyouverymuch), and she couldn't be happier. She firmly believes God gifts us with talents for a purpose, and with His help, you can create the life you want. (While eating potato chips.)

Straddling the Line by Jaci Burton

So, I got a chance to read Jaci Burton's latest read Straddling the Line, which was all possible thanks to Penguin's program First to Read. Now Straddling the Line was one of the selection this pass month and I wasn't going to take a chance on missing a golden opportunity to read this bad boy. So, instead of taking my chance on might getting selected, I decided it was worth getting a guaranteed copy. Boy was that sucker worth it. Yes, Jaci write some pretty hot stuff and Straddling the Line is no exception. However, I wasn't expecting to fall in love with Trevor and Haven. Seriously, these two were amazing and I absolutely loved them.

They both knew each other back in college and Haven had a crush on Trevor. Of course, she wouldn't admit it cause he was Mr. Hot Stuff back in the day. Now Haven is at a crossroads and doesn't know what to do with herself since her father had passed away. Yes, her mother is worry about her, so she enlisted Trevor's help to get Haven out of her funk. Since Trevor is so clever he decides to let Haven do a full exclusive on an assignment. He never thought he would want Haven more than a friend. So, they end up as bed buddies too.

Anyway, I loved Straddling the Line, because of the storyline. I love how Trevor comes to Haven's rescue, but she also saves him. Yes, they have some hot steamy scenes, but they also have a great emotional connection. I love how Trevor's secret is something that effects a lot of people and his condition is relatable. I adore Haven, because she's floundering in grief which gives her character more depth. Yes, she's a reporter, but you get a sense that she's human too. I don't know how describe this book other than it was AWESOME! I absolutely loved the whole thing. Jaci had me hooked from first page to the last. I had a hard time putting this book down. I'm telling you it's absolutely amazing. I hope that you get a chance to read it. Not just for the hot steamy sex, but for the wonderful story of two people connecting and helping each other overcome their trials.

I was born in a small town in Kentucky. My family began poor, but worked their way to owning a restaurant. My mother was one of the best cooks I have ever known, and she instilled in all her children the value of hard work, and education.

Taking after my mother, I’ve always love to cook, and became pretty good if I do say so myself. I love to experiment and my unfortunate family has suffered through many. They now have learned to steer clear of those dishes. I absolutely love the holidays and my family puts up with my zany decorations.

For now, my days are spent writing, writing, and writing. I have two children who both graduate this year from college. My daughter does my book covers, and my son just tries not to blush when someone asks him about my books.

Currently I am writing four series of books- The Last Riders, The Dark Souls, The VIP Room, and Biker Bitches series. My favorite book I have written is Soul Of A Woman, which I am hoping to release during the summer of 2014. It took me two years to write, during which I lost my mother, and brother. It’s a book that I truly feel captures the true depths of love a woman can hold for a man. In case you haven’t figured it out yet, I am an emotional writer who wants the readers to feel the emotion of the characters they are reading. Because of this, Teased is probably the hardest thing I have written.

All my books are written for one purpose- the enjoyment others find in them, and the expectations of my fans that inspire me to give it my best. In the near future I hope to take a weekend break and visit Vegas that will hopefully be this summer. Right now I am typing away on my next story and looking forward to traveling this summer!”

Hey! My name is Sarah Brianne and after living for twenty-two years the characters in my head told me enough was enough and I have finally put pen to paper (or is it finger to keyboard?) to tell their stories. Since I was a little girl I have watched every chick flick I could get my hands on, then when I became older I discovered a whole new world of romance novels. To me there is nothing better then a tale of true love and those are the stories that have inspired me to write. Like everything else in my life I have put my own spin on two lovers destined to be together.

Next to my books my prized possession are my two beautiful fur babies, Kalypso and Khaleesi. I know what you’re thinking, do you pack them in your purse? Yep, right next to my kindle.

Scandal Wears Satin by Loretta Chase

Yesterday, I finished Scandal Wears Satin by Loretta Chase. Now I have owned this book December of 2012. I figure I would wait to read this one when the final installment came out. When book 3 has finally come out and I figure now would be a good time to read this one.

First off, I'm going to strongly recommend reading the first book, Silk Is For Seduction, because part of the plot from the first book continues into the second book. Yes, you could probably get by without reading the first book, but there are a few characters that carry over from the first book. And they were kind of important in the first book. So, if you didn't read the first book some of this might be a spoiler for the first book. You have been warned.

When we last left off, Marcelline had just married the Duke of Clevedon. This upset Lady Warford and she has declare war on Noirot sisters. She's basically trying to get rid of the their business since her daughter decided not to married the Duke. So, the sisters are trying to figure out a way to stay in business as they are losing customers. If that wasn't their only problem their favorite client Lady Clara ends up in a compromising situation with a dastardly rogue who is on the brink of losing everything. Now they are trying to figure out a way to save their favorite client from a fate worse than death.

Scandal Wears Satin focuses on Sophy and Longmore (Lady Clara's brother) trying to figure out away to save Clara from her doom. I have to say the story was entertaining for the most part. However, there were a couple things that annoyed me, but they were pretty minor. One of them was whenever Sophy would talk to herself she had to keep reminding herself that she was Noirot and they have been through worse. That got old after while, but eventually Sophy stopped using that term. I actually love Sophy and Longmore's interaction, because they would fight like cats and dogs. So, you got to see the sexual tension build between these two characters. And when they finally got together it was explosive.

Overall, a pretty good read and Sophy and Longmore actually did work well together when they weren't arguing. I love how they fed off one another. I have to say that I did enjoyed the ending and I thought it was a nice touch. I'm curious to see what the youngest Noirot sister has up her sleeve.

InkSlinger PR Trailer: The Dare by Rachel Van Dyken

The Dare:

From #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Rachel Van Dyken, comes the third and final book in the New York Time's Bestselling Bet Series...

Boring Beth Lynn has always lived up to her nickname... until she wakes up in a hotel bed next to a sexy as sin state senator she re-connected with at a wedding the previous night.

The biggest problem? She can't seem to remember anything about the night before except for crying into a box of cookies, and she's pretty sure Grandma Nadine slipped something in her drink. And what should have been a one night stand turns into a six day adventure when Grandma whisks them off to Hawaii to save them from the ensuing media firestorm.

Jace isn't looking for commitment -- he believes he made that clear when he left the wedding with Beth. Then again, he can't remember much of anything other than the way her skin felt beneath his hands. Now he's stuck with her at some lame couple's retreat and trying his hardest to fight the attraction only a woman like Beth could invoke.

He doesn't think it can get any worse.

But one spider attack... A donkey ride from hell... And an unfortunate episode with Viagra tea -- and there's one thing Jace knows for sure: He should never have agreed to Grandma Nadine's suggestion in the first place.

Because if this isn't paradise, and it isn't a vacation -- that only leaves one option.

But to make it through alive... they might lose their hearts in the process.
