Saturday, I finished reading Summer in Napa by Marina Adair. It's book two in St. Helena Vineyard. I actually reading the St. Helena Vineyard books for a couple reason. However, the main reason it gives me a taste of home. Granted I didn't grow up in Napa, but a little further south. However, Ms. Adair does make mention to my home area in her book. However, we are focusing our attention on Napa Valley in the summer time.
Alexis Moreau (Lexie) always had dreams to create a bistro in her hometown of St. Helena. However, she put those dreams on hold when she ran off to New York chasing after Jeff. Now returning to home with her life in shambles needing a fresh start after her divorce from Jeff. Somehow, Jeff still has a hold on her. Those darn divorces can be a tad bit tricky. Stuck in the middle of Jeff and Lexie is Marco DeLuca.
It's always hard being friends to both parties when a divorce happens. Even more so when you have a crush on your best friends ex-wife. Marco has always had feelings for Lexie, but always put his feelings on the back burner in the name of friendship.
I must say I enjoyed Summer in Napa. Honestly, I do like fake relationships, because they always end up being more work than a real relationship. However, Marco and Lexie have to learn the hard way. Marco has always had feelings for Lexie, but always allowed his friend to have her. How things would have been different for Lexie if Marco had stepped up to Jeff in the first place.
Not only are they dealing with the fake relationship, but the family that comes along with it. Marco has a big family that has their noses into everyone else business. Of course, St. Helena wouldn't be same without the meddlesome trio: ChiChi, Pricilla, and Lucinda. I really do think they make the story, because they are always there. Somehow they mange to get what they really want. I can't wait to see what these trio have up their selves next.
Overall a good read with lots of family drama. Some good and some bad. No matter what, love finding its way to right people. So, if you are looking for a fake relationship with busybody family members, you might want to checkout Summer in Napa.
