Meet the characters of Against the Cage:
Dr. Christine
“Chrissy” Martin: She is the heroine of Against the Cage. Chrissy is in her late twenties and has been
working overseas as a doctor in impoverished countries for years. A blue-eyed, black hair, alabaster skinned,
beauty from Tarpon Springs, Florida. She was a late bloomer and was not pursued
much by guys while growing up. She was mostly into reading and her studies,
although she always did harbor a crush on her brother’s best friend, Jack.
At times she can be ditzy to everyday things. She’s been
away from the normalcies of American living for years now. She doesn’t really
know much about sports, cars, and popular culture. But, her heart is in the
right place. She is a people pleaser and because of her profession and other
issues from her past, she loathes violence. Therefore, being back to Tarpon
Springs and with a brother and Jack being professional (and
not-so-professional) cage fighters in the MMA circuit, she has a lot of
conflicting emotions. Not to mention all the guilt she has been harboring for
eleven years due to her father’s death.
Jack Daniels: Unfortunately
named Jack, is the hero of Against the Cage. He’s the town’s beloved police
officer and a professional MMA fighter in his spare time. He’s a typical alpha
male. Strong willed, protective, and commandeering. He’s Slade Martin, Chrissy’
brother, best friend. When he sees Chrissy for the first time after over a
decade, his world is altered and his protective instincts kick into high gear.
Shaved head, dark eyes, and a perpetual five o’clock shadow, he’s every bit the
brawny MMA fighter. He was always overprotective of Chrissy when they were
growing up and never really saw her as anything more than a nuisance. He
doesn’t know Chrissy’s secret and the reason she left Tarpon Springs all those
years back without so much as a goodbye. But, once he finds out, he will do
most anything to make her want to stay.
Slade Martin: Slade,
Chrissy’s brother and Jack’s best friend, is a typical oblivious man. He has
been estranged from his sister for over a decade and doesn’t really know why.
He’s the typical bad-boy, who loves to fight. He’s a professional MMA fighter,
but he also fights in underground unsanctioned fights. He’s been in trouble
with the law, repeatedly. He has a laid-back attitude, and nothing really fazes
him. Like Chrissy he has jet black hair
and piercing blue eyes, but unlike Chrissy, he is tall, the tallest of all the
fighters of Worth the Fight Academy, and he is full of muscles and has the
yummiest tattoo that goes from the right side of his neck all along the right
side of his body, all the way down to his toes. Even though he has been hit one
time too many and shouldn’t be fighting anymore, he continues to do so, even
though it is causing a rift in his relationship with his sister, the only
family he has left. Slade and Jack’s relationship, and banter, are some of my
favorite scenes in Against the Cage.
Travis and Cain:
These are two fighters from Worth the Fight Academy that make cameos in Against
the Cage and will be constant sub-characters in the series (hopefully having
their own novels someday). Readers will fall in love with Travis. He is also a
Professional fighter but he is super playful and has no qualms flirting with
all the women, especially Chrissy. Even though he really means no harm, his
Texan charm sends most women swooning. He has a southern drawl and says
whatever comes to mind without much thought.
Cain on the other hand, is a man of few words—or no words. He’s a closed
book. When he does speak, it tends to be brash, short, and straight to the
point. He is tall, lean and blonde and looks more like a Viking than an MMA
fighter. Whereas most of the fighters are all tatted up, this man has no
visible tattoos, clean-cut haircut, and is just a mystery to most.
Drogo: The
scene-stealer and most readers’ favorite character. Drogo is Jack’s miniature Chihuahua
with a temperament of a Pit-bull. He doesn’t like Jack but completely hates
Slade.
These are the main characters and sub-characters of Against
the Cage, but as the series progresses, the reader will fall in love with the
town people and they’ll meet, in more detail, Esther and Earl, Patsy and Jett,
the owners of some of local hangouts. So…there you go. Hope you enjoy reading
Against the Cage and fall in love with Chrissy and Jack as much as I have.
AGAINST THE CAGE: Worth the
Fight Series
Loveswept Contemporary Romance
Written by Sidney Halston
Releasing May 27, 2014
Blurb
In her Loveswept debut, Sidney Halston turns
up the heat as a sexy cage fighter shows a former bookworm how delicious a few
rounds between the sheets can be.
For Chrissy Martin,
returning to her Florida hometown always seems to bring bad luck. The day
starts with a breakup text, followed by a jailhouse phone call from her
troublemaker brother. Now a routine traffic stop has ended with her
accidentally punching an officer . . . in a delicate place. Then Chrissy
realizes that the hot cop on the receiving end of her right hook is none other
than the man from her teenage fantasies.
Jack Daniels knows
how to take a hit. After all, when he’s not chasing reckless drivers, he’s
kicking ass in a mixed martial arts ring. So what takes his breath away isn’t
the low blow, but the woman who dealt it: a gorgeous knockout with legs Jack
wouldn’t mind being pinned under—who just so happens to be his best friend’s
nerdy little sister, all grown up. Soon their instant chemistry leads to a
sizzling affair, but Jack and Chrissy are fighting an uphill battle if they want
to make love last beyond the final bell.

Author Info
Sidney Halston
lives her life by one simple rule: “The secret of getting ahead is getting
started” (Mark Twain). Or even simpler: “Just do it” (Nike). And that’s exactly
what she did. At the age of thirty, having never written anything other than a
legal brief, she picked up a pen for the first time to pursue her dream of
becoming an author. That first stroke sealed the deal, and she fell in love
with writing. Halston lives in South Florida with her husband and children.
