eARC: An Heiress at Heart by Jennifer Delamere

Last night I spent most of the night finishing An Heiress at Heart by Jennifer Delamere. I must say that it was a wonderful read. So, let share what it's about and why I liked it.

The story starts off with Lizzie Poole and her brother in Australia, where they meet Edward and Ria Smythe (whose actual last name was Somerville). When Lizzie and Ria come face to face for the first time there is an uncanny resemblance to one another that could make them possibly sisters.

Hard times hits them and on Ria's deathbed she asks to Lizzie to become her and go to the family. What are you going to do? After all, Lizzie lost her brother to the sea, Ria's husband is dead and Ria is dying, might as well assume Ria's position. What could go wrong?

So, Lizzie makes it back to England and everything is going swell. Ria's family accepts her as Ria. However, there is always a snag in road. For one thing, she's falling for her "Brother-in-Law," which was a big no-no back then. If it couldn't get any worse, she has a blast from her past, who was supposedly to be dead. Sounds like trouble ahead for Lizzie, hopefully it works out for her.

Overall, I found this story delightful. I mean I usually steer clear of inspirational romance novels for a couple of reasons: 1) they tend to be to preachy and 2) they struggle with there inner conflict, no real villain. However, I didn't find that at all with this story. It wasn't overly preachy. I just chalked up to the hero being a former vicar who came into a title, so he would still has his tendency to be like a vicar. I love that there was real villain in the story. Yes, there was that inner struggle thing, but there was a real bad guy. Which gave the story more depth. I was truly amazed. I loved that it wasn't overly sappy and I'm looking forward to reading more books from Jennifer Delamere.

So, I leave you today and I hope you have a wonderful day. Enjoy the books your reading.

ARC: Wicked Nights with a Proper Lady by Tiffany Clare

YAY! I made it. I was a little afraid I wasn't going to get this read before tomorrow. However, I have manage, and now doing a happy dance. Anyways, I'm super excited to share the latest read I read, which is Wicked Nights with a Proper Lady by Tiffany Clare. I'm so excited that I got a chance to read this book and I would like to share the story and why I loved it.

First off,  it's always fun to read the start of a new series and this one is sure going to sizzle. Granted the start of the book is pretty much laying out the ground work for the other stories, so there is more to come. YAY!

At the beginning, you meet the three dangerous rogues: Leoniadas Harrow, the Earl of Barrington, Tristan, the Marquess of Castleigh, and Hayden, the Duke of Alsborough. Attending the funeral of the Earl of Fallon, mainly for moral support for the Countess of Fallon, Jez to them. And there is no question that Jez needs moral support, especially after the bastard that was her husband left her nothing. How you like that?

Never good to do something like that. It's just the making of a disaster for someone and whoever is caught along the path. So, Jez comes up with a plan to try to break a possible marriage between Mr. Warren (who is the future Earl of Fallon) to Lady Charlotte Lindsay (who is the daughter of Lord Ponsley).  Jez doesn't want this alliance to happen, so she ask the help of her buddies Leo, Tristan and Hayden to foil the plan. What better way to do that than to compromise the girl?

Nothing ever goes according to plan especially when there is a delectable chaperone. Genevieve Camden knows all about rogues and the damage they can do. After all she fell in love with one and hasn't quite recover from the past. However, Leo sees a second chance to regain his first love and help Jez out. What can go wrong?

Oh my gosh, what a fabulous read. Once I started the book, I couldn't quite put it down, but I had to for things that had to be down. I mean the story had me aching for more as I read the book. First off, LOVE LEO! Once you get to know the rogue, you think he's not so bad. He's loyal to his friends and he is willing to try to get all he wants in life. Nothing wrong with that. Genny tries to please her family and basically jumps through hoops for them. I mean she's amazing. Another thing I loved from the book was the blurbs from The Mayfair Chronicles. You gotta love scandal sheets and I hope Ms. Clare continues those blurbs in her next book.

Overall, a sizzling read that I couldn't get enough of and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book. I mean with the set up to move into the next story it has you craving to see what happens next. So, now I just need to wait until the end of April. Ack! I have to so long, well I'm not alone in that. So, I leave to today and I hope you check this sizzling read, Wicked Nights with a Proper Lady.

Happy reading.

How to Vex a Viscount by Mia Marlowe

Alrighty, for the past week I have been reading How to Vex a Viscount by Mia Marlowe. Honestly, I liked the story. So, without further ado I should tell you what the story is about and the things I liked about the book.

Daisy Drake has always had an interest in antiquities and so has been trying for sometime to become a part of the Society of Antiquaries. Yet being a female, Daisy has been rejected on countless times. Sucks to be a woman in 1700s, where she is suppose to be meek and docile. Which doesn't suit Daisy's personality at all.

Lucian Beaumont, Viscount Rutland, has been trying to get funds to search Roman treasure on the British soil. No one wants to help fund his search due to the fact of what happen to his father many years ago. However, Daisy made an offer to help Lucian. Of course he had to reject, and not because she's a woman. But for the fact that there is a past issue with the Drake's and Beaumont's.

After that dismal encounter, Daisy is still in search for her great adventure and turns to her Great-Aunt Isabella for ideas. Well, she ends up dressing up as a famous French courtesan Mademoiselle Blanche LaTour for a masquerade. Which starts Daisy on an adventure she never saw coming and leads her to do a great many things.

Ok, I liked the story. How to Vex a Viscount did entertain me as I read the book. I mean come when you have a young lady masquerading to be a courtesan there could be trouble. So, much trouble. You wonder if the Lucian is smart enough to figure out if Daisy is Blanche or if he's going to do the typical  guy thing and not realize Daisy and Blanche are one in the same. That in itself is enthralling. Plus, there is so much more to the story, especially when there is treasure involve. So, if you are looking for a story with a girl pretending to be a courtesan or a treasure hunt, you might enjoy How to Vex a Viscount. I leave you today and I hope you are enjoying whatever you are reading.

Never Been Bit by Lydia Dare

Out of all the Lydia Dare books this is my second favorite one, but my favorite when it comes to Gentleman Vampire series. I absolutely loved this story, so without further ado here's Never Been Bit and what makes it so great.

Every since we were first introduce to Sorcha Ferguson, in Tall, Dark and Wolfish she has always been described as a wood sprite. Which is fitting since she's the witch that has the power to work with plants. I know you're thinking, what's so great about that? Just ask a couple of her recipients of the damage that can be done. Overall, she's a sweet, kind and caring witch that is sensitive to everyones needs. One can say that she is soft hearted. Ever since she's met a couple of her fellow witch's husband that were Lycan, Sorcha has set out to capture one of her own. After all she has no problem with there drool and tails.

Now Alec MacQuarrie tends to have a grim out look on life since becoming a vampire. Alec has no desire to socialize with proper society since he lost Caitrin Macleod to a mangy flea-bag (his words not mine). Yet, somehow he's invited to the Duchess of Hythe. Once he arrives he hears what Sorcha has plan. Let's just say he wasn't too please to hear that. So, Alec sets out to stop her from making the biggest mistake of her life.

As I said at the beginning I love this book, and I think a lot of it has to do with the previous books. I mean you watch Sorcha grow so much in the previous stories. Granted they're not focus on her, but she's always in the background. Plus, she has so much love for everyone, you cannot help but love her. I love how she can look at Alec and see more than just a vampire.

So, you know where I stand on this book: LOVED IT! I mean, I laughed and I cried. Overall great book. Seriously, worth the read. Especially, when you have a dark vampire and a sunny witch. I mean opposites attract and they certainly do in this story. So, go out and have some fun while you read.

In the Heat of the Bite by Lydia Dare

One book closer to the next Lydia Dare book. I'm super excited to bring you this delightsome read, which is In the Heat of the Bite. So, I will tell you about the book and what I thought of it.

Rhiannon Sinclair know as the weather witch heads to London to rescue her sister from their awful Aunt Greer. Who has gotten in her head that she would launch Genny into society. Rhiannon is not happy with the situation and decides to have a temper tantrum in the middle of Hyde Park, when Matthew Halkett, Earl of Blodswell stumbles upon her. Nothing with rain, thunder and lighting in the middle of Hyde Park, while the rest of London is dry. A tad bit disturbed by Matthew appearance, decides to run away from him. Come on the last encounter she had with a vampire wasn't a pleasant one, which would explain why she would run like a scared rabbit.

Rhiannon comes to find out that Matthew is real not a bad vampire and needs some help to gain some respectability in the eyes of her aunt. I don't know why she would want that from a bitter jealous aunt.  Rhiannon is not the only that needs help, Matthew has come to realize that he has no desire to feed on anyone else after meeting Rhiannon. That's not good, after all he is a vampire. Hmmm, what to do, what to do? It's always hard being a gentleman vampire.

Who wouldn't want a knight and shinning armor kinda guy? I mean he's always there when you need him. And who doesn't want a friend who can effect the weather? Both can come in handy. Then you put them together, wow what an effect.

Overall, I liked the story and as always the dynamic duo who make up Lydia Dare are always building to create future stories. However, they are very subtle and you wouldn't really notice. Since this is my second time reading this book, I'm starting to see the future characters. Honestly, these books are really neat in that aspect, you don't see too many authors doing this. I strongly suggest reading the other books first before diving into this story, because it really helps the story along. So, I leave you today and happy reading.

Audiobook: How to Dance with a Duke by Manda Collins

The audiobook selection is Manda Collins' How to Dance with a Duke. Well, I tried to put to the CD on to my iPhone. Let's just say it didn't work all that well. I had half the CD on there and the other half is somewhere on my computer. Not a great start here. So, I had to dig up a CD player.

I was a tad bit worry I wouldn't be able to find it and would have to go out a buy a new one. Do they even sell those things anymore? Well, fortunately I was able to find my compact disc player and it still work. YAY! Always a good thing.

So, the past couple of weeks I have been listening to How to Dance with a Duke by Manda Collins. I'm excited that I won a copy of this audiobook, because after listening to the story makes me want to go out and get book two. However, that's going to have to wait a bit. However, here a quick overview of the story:

Cecily Hurston is the daughter of Viscount Hurston who is over the Egyptian Club. Cecily is trying to find answers and about happen on the last expedition. However, she is unable to get answers, so she decides to go find the Duke of Winterson, since the Duke's brother was on the last expedition with her father.

Lucas Dalton, the Duke of Winterson, is also looking for answers to the disappearance of his brother and figures the best way to get answer is to talk to Viscount Hurston. However, Hurston is unable to give him answers, because of his medical condition. So, Cecily and Lucas team up to find the answers

Overall, I found the story charming to listen to. Plus, the story kept me entertain as I walked. I love Cecily and Lucas and how they work together to find the answers. I love how Lucas steps up to the plate when he needs to. I'm excited to move on to the next story, but it might be a while before I download the next book, since it is starting to get cold and I'm not a fan of walking in the cold. Plus, my baby wouldn't like it either. So, I leave you today and I hope you all are staying warm.

The Boss's Fake Fiancée by Inara Scott

Last night I started and finished a stunning story by Inara Scott, which is The Boss's Fake Fiancée. Let me share this remarkable read and what I thought about it.

If you remember last month I read Rules of Negotiation and absolutely love the book. Well, Inara's next book is just as good as the last one.

If you got a chance to read Rules of Negotiation or my review you would remember that Brit Bencher tried to help his sister Melissa get a job at Solen Labs. Fortunately, she was able to get hired at Solen Labs with the help of Tori.

Anyways, while at a conference Melissa runs into her scumbag ex-boyfriend Mark Venshiner and accidently insinuates  that she was with her boss Garth Solen. Nothing like petty revenge, but that kind of stuff tends to backfire. Her opportunistic ex decides to tip off the press that there might be something going on between Garth and Melissa, which creates a massive news storm.

Doesn't help that Garth's grandmother reads the story in the New York Star Herald and demands to meet the girl who caught his heart. Now Garth and Melissa have to make a fake engage work in order to make sure his grandmother doesn't get worst. Man that puts a lot pressure on them. Can this all work out or will it all backfire?

As I said in the beginning I read this last night. Seriously, I couldn't put it down. I loved the story from cover to cover. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! You have hot and smart Garth Solen, who is refer to as the human computer. There's a really good reason why he is refer to as the human computer and you understand why he is emotionally unavailable. However, he is able to love fiercely once trust is earned. Yes, he has some trust issues, but you just can't help loving him. Melissa is so patient and understanding.

Overall, The Boss's Fake Fiancée had me laughing out loud at times and pretty much rolling at the things that were said. It also had me tearing up parts. At times I felt my heart in my throat, I never thought I would say something like that. I can't stress enough that this was absolutely amazing and really do hope you get a chance to read this marvelous story.

So, I leave you today and I hope you are liking what you are reading.

It Happened One Bite by Lydia Dare

Another entertaining read from Lydia Dare. As you can see from the past few entries I have been on a Lydia Dare kick. Part of it has to deal with her new release in about a week, so I have been re-reading majority of her books. With that said, I bring you It Happened One Bite and what I thought of the book.

Fiona Macleod (Caitrin's mother) always thought that keeping the coven pure was the most important thing. However, she went a little too far with her pursuit, especially when she convince to the coven to trap James Maitland, the Baron of Kettering. She convinces them that the vampire will destroy Alpina Lindsay's daughter. Twenty years later, James awakes to a place he doesn't recognize and wondering how he got there.

Adrian Lindsay learns he had inherited Briarcraig Castle and decides to drag Blaire and Brannock to the Highlands. Once they step into the castle strange things start to happen.  As they work on getting the castle fit for company, Blaire stumbles upon where James is locked up. Surprisingly, James finds himself wanting Blaire more than just a meal.

The first in the Gentleman Vampire series or Regency Vampire series, depending where you find this book. Anyways, I really liked this book. I mean it was stupendous. Since I stumble upon Westfield Brothers series and found out there were more books by this author I had to continue on my journey. I love how all the stories tie together. So, it really is worth reading them all in order.

There's nothing like coming across a fireball throwing witch, and Blaire being the battle-born witch doesn't let you down. She is one fierce witch. Come on you have to be, if you are going to be hurling fireballs. Then you have James who is a  handsome vampire. You would let him get a nip of you if you met him. I love the dynamic between the two of them. Most men would be intimidated by Blaire, because she can fight better than most men. However, James finds her endearing. Plus, its amusing to watch to stubborn people battle each other with there wits.

So, I hope you guys get a chance to check out all of Lydia Dare's books, because they are really enjoyable. Especially, when they tie paranormal and regency together. I hope you are enjoy what your reading and I will talk to you later.

ARC: Lord Gray's List by Maggie Robinson

For the last week I have been reading Lord Gray's List by Maggie Robinson. Since it's about to be release in a couple of weeks I figure I better get this done. I have to say that I do have an appreciation for Ms. Robinson's writing. I happen to stumble upon her work when one of her other books was recommend to me and I haven't look back since. So, without further ado I will share with you the first book in The London List series.

When Evangeline Ramsey (Evie) was younger, she happen to be in love with Baron Benton Gray (Ben). However, she was afraid what her life would amount to if she had given in to Ben. Evie had this fear Ben was like her father and that scared her. After there love affair was over Ben headed to London and there begun his life debauchery.

What to do scorn women tend do? That's right they get even. When they get even it's never pretty; never. Evie being an intelligent girl did something that no simpering miss would do; she decide to masquerade as a man. There are some advantages to dressing like a man that wouldn't be allotted as a woman. Plus, she wouldn't be able to get the juicy story about Ben if she was her true self. With Ben fed up with his dirty laundry out for everyone to see he marches down to find not a Mr. Ramsey, but a Miss Ramsey. There is the real start of the story. Trust me it does get juicier.

Now what I thought. Definitely a juicy read. Ms. Robinson does not let you down in that department. I found the story to be a wicked good read. Anytime you have a woman masquerading as a man has to be chock full of fun. Not only that, the banter between Evie and Ben is simple sublime. They act like an old marry couple at times, which is hilarious. I truly did enjoy this read and I hope you get a chance to check this story out when it comes out. So, I leave you and I hope you are enjoying your books.

Sexy As Hell by Andrea Laurence

Last night I got to read a quick little novella. What's better than having  demons and angels for October? I mean it's perfect for this time of year. Or if you love novellas with angels and demons year round. So, if you are looking for something quick to read angels and demons look no further.

For centuries Seth has been in the service of the Archangel Michael. After so many centuries, Michael has offer him a way out of his contract. Yet, there's a catch. Don't you hate that when there's a catch?

His last duty assignment is to catch the succubus Isra, who has taken over his neighbor Camille's body. Which sucks for him, because he has a crush on Camille for months. Isra's job is to suck the life force out of Seth and create a spawn using Camille. Sucks to be Seth. Hopefully he can resist the temptation in the form of Camille.

Overall, I liked this quick read. I mean it was entertaining to watch the angel and demon to spar off. Especially, when Isra uses her sexual arsenal to try to catch Seth. Then you have Camille who is a spectator through out this whole mess. All she has to do is sit and watch for 24 hours, then she can have her body back as long as Isra doesn't win. Another thing I like about this novella was it was broken down with time, instead of chapters. Which made this story unique and you got to read the the different hours where stuff happens.

As I said early this a quick read and entertaining. It's worth the read, when you need something short. So, come on and check this story out. I leave you today and I hope you are enjoying what your reading.
