Blurb

By day, she is Lady Georgiana, sister to a duke, ruined before her first season in the worst kind of scandal. But the truth is far more shocking-in London’s darkest corners, she is Chase, the mysterious, unknown founder of the city’s most legendary gaming hell. For years, her double identity has gone undiscovered...until now.

Brilliant, driven, handsome-as-sin Duncan West is intrigued by the beautiful, ruined woman who is somehow connected to a world of darkness and sin. He knows she is more than she seems and he vows to uncover all of Georgiana’s secrets, laying bare her past, threatening her present, and risking all she holds dear...including her heart.

My Thoughts:

So, the past couple of days I have been playing catch up on this series, and knowing that Chase is Georgiana I started to see the subtle hints. Let me tell you they are subtle. I probably need to go back and read A Rogue by Any Other Name to see if there are hints. Granted Sarah never used he/she when in previous stories which makes it hard to see that Chase is a woman or man. However, there are some lines to suggest he might be a she. Don't get me wrong until Sarah reveal that Chase was Georgiana, I was under the impression Chase was a man. When it was all reveal, yes, I was shocked and kind of excited. Partly, after the end of Eleven Scandals to Start to Win a Duke's Heart I wanted Georgiana to have happy-ending. I mean she sacrificed what was left of her tattered reputation for her brother to find true love. Ever since then I had a soft spot for Georgiana, and asked Sarah if there was any hope for Georgiana to find love. I know this is even a bit out there, but I was hoping for her to get with Benedick. Obviously that's not going to happen, but I hope he would get his own story (fingers still cross).

I absolutely loved the growth of Georgiana, because when we first saw her back in Ten Ways to Be Adorned When Landing a Lord she was a scared teenager. She didn't know what was going to happen to life or how she was going to raise a baby she was carrying. It wasn't until Eleven Scandals to Start to Win a Win a Duke's Heart that she started to take responsibility for her actions. Then she disappeared, but in a essence she hadn't. However, she developed a couple of personas Anna and Chase. Anna, the light-skirt, who is like the queen of the light-skirts at the Fallen Angel, and we have the all powerful Chase who knows all the secrets of society. I think if the Ton new all the secrets Georgiana carried they would be a heck a lot nicer to her. I know I would. She yields all this power, but still is powerless to protect her daughter from scorn. So, she decided she needs to buy herself a titled husband to protect her daughter from further scorn, which she enlists the help of Duncan West.

Now Duncan has been here and there in the series. He's the newspaper man who can yield his sword of words and make or break anyone. In this case he's just as powerful as Chase, but at the same time he carries a secret that could ruin him. Since he know Chase to know everything, he invokes his help. However, he starts to feel that Chase is the enemy. Egads. Poor guy.

I have come to love The Rules of Scoundrel series, because we have seen the development of each of the characters. They have overcome being stepped on by society to rise to the top. I especially love this story, because you see what a mother would do for the love of her child. I love that she was willing to sacrifice herself for Caroline, which isn't an easy task. Granted Georgiana didn't believe in love for sometime, she was able to find it again. However, I have to say that Duncan and Georgiana are pretty stubborn. I have to say that I do love Caroline, because she's smart. Even though I'm sad to see these characters go, I can't wait to see what Sarah come up with next.
