Book Description:
Bank Teller and all around good girl, Sydney
McKnight, is tired of being the girl all the guys want to have as a friend. Who
better to help unleash her inner vixen than her best friend and secret crush,
Brody Lawson? Only, Sydney has no idea how to ask him, without their friendship
going up in flames, until that is, the town of Jessamine's annual Firemen's
Auction gives her the perfect excuse to set her plan into motion.
Fire Captain Brody Lawson has been in love with
his best friend, Sydney, for years, but he would never risk their friendship by
confessing his feelings to her. So, when Sydney beats out the competition to
buy his time at the annual Firemen's Auction, Brody can hardly believe his luck
until she asks him to teach her how to seduce a fellow fireman.
Now, it’s up to Brody to show Sydney how perfect
she already is and convince her that they only man for her is him, because if
Sydney is going to seduce any man, it’s going to be him. And once he has her in
his bed, he’s not letting her go.
My Thoughts:
Let me first get this off my chest, I'm not a huge fan of friends to lovers stories. I know a lot of you guys are, but not I. Here's my reason: They always have a falling out that threatens the original friendship when they try to go back friends. Always. Knowing that bugs me. I'm not saying that they aren't good, because they are good stories, just not my faves. You could probably guess what Love So Hot is; yep, a friends to lovers story.

We have the sweetest girl in Jessamine, Sydney McKnight. Now sweet Sydney is in love with her best friend Brody. Yes, that unrequited love; it's a pain in the butt to have. However, it wouldn't be so bad if she was able to find a guy to date. First off, she's not ugly, quite the opposite, but she has an overprotective best friend. Now Brody believes he's protecting Sydney from the scumbags of the world, but we find out that he has a secret crush on Sydney. Now this would make the earth an easier place if they just came out with the whole truth instead of a convoluted roundabout way together.
All right, Love So Hot was a cute fun story, even if I had a pit in my stomach (goes back to the friends to lovers). Sydney and Brody are great as friends, but everyone can see them make goo-goo eyes to one another when they believe no one is looking. Yes, they did need a little help from friends to push them together. I have to say that it's the friends that pull the story along, because without those friends who knows if Sydney and Brody would have gotten out of the dreaded friend zone. However, it's entertaining to watch Sydney try to keep up with the charade, while Brody believes he's training her try to seduce a buddy at work. Poor girl the thing almost backed fires on her.
Here's the bottomline: Those who love friends to lovers troupe might enjoy this story. It's fun and entertaining. Even though I'm not a fan of this kind of troupe, I still enjoyed Love So Hot. Plus, it got me curious on a couple characters. It's a pretty good start to Marquita's new series.
