Blurb
One bucking bronco…
Oklahoma ranch hand Tyler Jenkins is too
young, too sexy, and too damn wild to be tied down by any single woman—for more
than a few steamy hours…
One hard-working widow…
Widowed rancher Janie Smithwick is too busy
paying off her debts to play rodeo with a reckless young cowboy like Tyler—no
matter how hot he gets her…
One midnight ride they’ll never forget…
As a rule, Janie should be dating a man her
own age, like her handsome neighbor Rohn—not the twenty-four-year old ranch
hand he employs. But once Tyler gets Janie alone—held tight in his arms,
pressed against his hard muscled body, burning with desire—the widow realizes
that some rules, like broncos, are meant to be broken…
My Thoughts:
Let me say that I enjoyed Midnight Ride by Cat Johnson. It's a sweet story. So, we have Tyler, some might say he's a whipper snapper compared to Janie. There is an 11 years age gap between, but that doesn't bother him. Oh no, he sees one hot mama (technically she's not a mama, but you get my point). So, we have a May-December romance, and usually we find the man being the older one rather than the woman. We see the dynamics of the story in a different light. We have Tyler who doesn't give a fig about the age gap and Janie who is self-conscious about the gap. We watch Tyler trying to prove that age is just a number and he really wants to be with Janie. A perfect song for this the over all theme would be Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers I Won't Back Down. Cause Tyler wasn't going to backdown from winning Janie.
I adore Tyler, because he's just so darn cute. He's a cocky, smart ass guy, but he does have a heart of gold. He's just so lovable. I would take Tyler. Janie is a nice gal. She's a widower and still adjusting to life without her husband when Tyler enters the picture. Cause of the age difference she has a fear that he will get bored with her and find someone closer to her age. The funny thing about love that it doesn't matter what the age when it's right, it's right. Even if Tyler was closer to her age, he could still decide that he wants someone younger. Life holds no guarantee, we just hope for the best. Fortunately for Janie, Tyler has a persistent nature and doesn't give up easily.
Overall, Midnight Ride is an enjoyable read. Honestly it's a pretty low-key read when it comes to drama. Nothing to dramatic happens in the story. The drama that does occur in the story is stem from Janie's insecurity and fear that Tyler will get bored and leave. However, a decent guy will fight for what he wants. So, sit back and relax and watch Tyler prove he might be the man for Janie. In a mood for a dreamy young cowboy, you might give Midnight Ride a try.
