Blurb
After months of caring for her terminally ill mother, Rebecca Rivera is left all alone in a world she doesn’t trust—but she’s determined not to let her mother’s death define her. Losing her job, having to pummel some jerk for being too handsy, and living in her car are just temporary setbacks to an otherwise solid plan in finding her footing. Full of pride and used to being in control of her life, she’s certain she can make it on her own. The last thing Rebecca needs is a man to fix her troubles—even if that man is strikingly handsome, wealthy, and charismatic Pierce Braden.

Pierce is a powerful real estate investor on the verge of a major acquisition. As the eldest of six siblings raised by a single mother, he’s spent his life protecting those he loves. He’s used to being in charge and making things right, and although he’d give his life for his family, he treats the women he dates as expendable—until he meets sexy and stubborn Rebecca Rivera, a woman who is as strong as she is vulnerable.

Passion ignites between them, and the two share their most intimate thoughts and desires. It doesn’t take long for Pierce to realize that Rebecca is as determined not to be saved as he is to find a way into her heart. As their love grows, Rebecca must face fears she didn’t even realize she had—and Pierce must learn the hard truth that sometimes less really is more. Is the power of true love enough for Rebecca and Pierce to learn to give up control and allow their hearts to take over?

My Thoughts:

When I started Romancing My Love, the first thing that came to my mind was what I thought of Rebecca and Pierce. Rebecca is a strong, stubborn, and prideful woman. However, I never thought of her as vulnerable until one of her friends pointed out that she yield her pride as a sword to protect her from letting anyone in. So, she has some personal demons. When you have a story that deals with personal demons it tends to get over used a lot, but I'm not sure how else to describe it. Then the song Demons by Imagine Dragons popped into my head; actually that song was a perfect fit for Rebecca. When she's at her most vulnerable point in her life she meets Pierce and she doesn't know how to handle him. Now Pierce is a strong, charismatic, charming guy, all right he's a player at the beginning. Yet when he meets Rebecca, he wants to change old habits. Honestly, I would have thought he would struggle, after all he was never going to settle down. Funny how finding "The One" changes everything.

I did struggle with Rebecca, because she just wouldn't let anyone help her. A lot has to do with her pride and it could have gotten in the way of her budding relationship with Pierce. I have to give the guy credit for sticking with her and not giving up, because he could have said "I'm out of here" at any moment. Rebecca is fiercely independent and struggle with Pierce wanting to help her and take care of her. However, it all goes back to her demons and her fears.

Yes, the relationship progress fast, but there a few bumps in the road mainly caused by Rebecca and probably exacerbated by Pierce. Both have a need to control, which makes things a little more interesting to see who is willing to give up there control. Overall, Romancing My Love is a pretty good read. If you don't mind strong-willed heroine who is a bit stubborn to admit she might need help. Plus, the story carries a theme of "trust is two way street", so can each of them be willing to trust one another to let love in?
