Interview with Máire Claremont & Giveaway

Hello everyone y’all to welcome to Máire Claremont What I’m Reading today!

How are you Máire?
I’m over the moon and completely overwhelmed with all the fun that is The Dark Lady’s release. Plus I just moved. Eek. So, there’s all that fun newness too.

Well, I’m glad to have you stop by my blog today.  I know that you have a debut book out, would you be willing to share to my readers what it is about?
I’m so glad you could have me. :D The Dark Lady is a passionate, tortured story of redemption. Lady Eva Carin has been thrown in the madhouse after the death of her son and husband. For her, all seems completely lost and that she will never escape. Lord Ian Blake has loved Eva since they were children. When he discovers she’s been locked away on his return from India, nothing in heaven or hell can stop him from rescuing her and proving her sanity to society.

This story is so close to my heart because the characters have to go through so much, just like we readers and writers do in our daily lives, before they find their HEA. But boy, do they find it. :D

Where did you come up with the idea of The Dark Lady?
Actually, the story literally just came to me. I was in bed, trying to sleep and failing. Suddenly this woman, in a black gown, popped into my mind, and she was in such a state and absolutely insisted I tell her story. I got up and wrote the first scenes immediately. Err. Shhh. Don’t tell that my characters do talk to me and can be quite demanding.

What made you decided to have your story to start off in asylum?
Eva was in such a bad situation, that I felt it necessary to launch you into her world and see how far she has been pulled down by life events and her family. I wanted to show her pain, her helplessness, but also her strength.

Can you share a little about your hero and heroine? What do you love about the two of them?
I absolutely adore Ian. He is such a good man driven by hard circumstances. He loves Eva so much and would give up anything to help her. And, he’s a real man of honor. When he decides something is right, he will defend it to the death.

Eva is so important to me. She’s damaged but not broken. She’s lost, but hasn’t give up. Of course, in the story she is concerned she’s no longer worthy of Ian’s love, but she is so capable and loves him so deeply. They truly compliment each other in their passions, though they have to re-learn who they are after such a long separation.

What is next on the horizon or is that a secret?

Well, Lady In Red, Book Two in The Mad Passions Series will be out in October and I will also be releasing a novella tentatively called For the Love of Lady Ophelia which is a tribute to my mother who lost the battle with cancer this fall. I will also be releasing a Restoration romance novel which I am terribly excited over the summer. So, I’ve got loads coming out over the next few months.

I would like to thank you for coming and visiting us today. Is there anything else you would like to add or share?
Thank YOU. My wish for your readers is that they embrace their passions, and like Eva and Ian, never give up. I hope you all love my heroine and hero as much as I do. Happy reading. :D

Bio:
2011 Golden Heart winner Máire Claremont first fell in love with Mr. Rochester, not Mr. Darcy. Drawn to his dark snark, she longed to find a tortured hero of her own… until she realized the ramifications of Mr. Rochester locking his frst wife up in his attic. Discovering the errors of her ways, Máire now looks for a real-life Darcy and creates deliciously dark heroes on the page. Oh, and she wants everyone to know her name is pronounced Moira. Her parents just had to give her an Irish Gaelic name.

Lord Ian Blake has returned from India a broken man. Years ago, he pledged to Lady Eva Carin—his childhood companion and " first love—that he would bring her husband back alive. His failure haunts him. But even his jade soul can’t anticipate the shocking sight of beautiful, independent Eva confined in a madhouse....

Locked in an asylum, forgotten by society, Eva is adrift in both body and mind. For Ian to break her free, they must cross a powerful enemy—and prove her sanity to England’s unforgiving aristocracy. But the biggest danger of all may come when the secrets of Eva’s tragic past are finally unlocked....
