In national bestselling author Beverly Jenkins' Destiny series, the Yates men play hard and live hard. And when they find that special woman, they fall hard . . .

Noah Yates fully believes in the joys of a happy family and a good wife. But that's not the life for him. No, he would much rather sail the wild seas in search of adventure, not tied down. But then the unthinkable happens . . . he finds himself literally tied down. To a bed. By a woman.

And Pilar isn't just an ordinary woman. She's descended from pirates. And after giving him one of the worst nights of his life, she steals his ship! Now Noah is on the hunt, and he'll stop at nothing to find this extraordinary woman . . . and make her his.

My Thoughts:

I enjoyed Destiny's Captive. So, we have Noah Yates who was shanghaied when he was 18, and it changed him forever. During the story he believes he has gotten past his issues, but later is reveal that he hasn't. Anyway, he meets Pilar Banderas while she confiscates his boat and leaves him out in the waters. However, he vows to find her no matter what. Gotta love when underline threat there. Once he's able to find her, he changes the course of action instead of plotting revenge he decides he needs to marry her. After all that is the most logical reason ever. Instead of seeing Pilar as a ball and chain, he sees a great adventure waiting to happen.

All right, so the beginning of Destiny's Captive is exciting. I mean you have Pilar stealing Noah's boat, and later on you have her yielding a sword at him. So, you see that she has this great adventurous spirit. Then we get to the middle of the story and it mellows out quite a bit. Cause you see Pilar starting to be tame, but there are times her fiery nature does come out especially when an ex-mistress pops up. So, I was wondering how that was going to play out. Truth be told it wasn't the way I expected to happen. About this time the drama starts to flare up again and encourages to pay attention to what is happen. Overall, I found Destiny's Captive to be thrilling read. Yes, there are some slow parts, but still captivating.

  2. Well, I would adore being held captive by Sean Connery. He may be an old Scotsman now, but I'll bet he's still vera, vera interestin'! :-) thanks for the interesting question and the introduction to Beverly Jenkins! jdh2690@gmail.com

  3. Thanks for the intro to a new to me author! This looks like a really fun book. If I have to held captive by a celebrity I think I'll choose Gerard Butler. :-)
