Wildfire: Spotlight + Review: The Lying Hours by Sara Ney

The Lying Hours

How to Date a Douchebag, 5

ABRAHAM DAVIS—Honest Abe to his friends—IS IN OVER HIS HEAD...

He’s a fixer and a do good-er. The all-knowing, resident "grandfather" on the wrestling team who everyone relies on to fix their problems. His teammates go to him for everything; advice, homework, or when they need a sober driver at three in the morning--whether he likes it or not.

Abe’s current mission is easy: mend his roommates broken heart by helping him find a girlfriend on the LoveU app--without getting caught in the lie...

SKYLAR GABRIEL. IS. OVER. IT.

Over her bad grades. Over her meddling older brother and his two best friends. And over dating douchebags. What she wants to know is: where have all the nice guys gone?

She longs for a handsome, sweet, and honest guy who can make her laugh. In one last ditch effort to prove that he exists—Skylar turns to LoveU.

On her worst day, Skylar has no filter (it’s a miracle she hasn’t been ditched mid-date).

On her best, she’s as wholesome, and sweet, as pie.

On Thursday? She matches with Abraham Davis’s roommate.

Skylar Gabriel is falling for the wrong guy—she just doesn’t realize it yet.

Why?

BECAUSE ABE DAVIS IS A LIAR.

My Thoughts:

Yes, I do enjoy reading How to Date a Douchebag books. They are kind of silly, but who cares. They are away to escape. I enjoyed The Lying Hours. Abe a pretty good guy, but when it comes to the ladies he's an idiot. It doesn't help the he has a douchebag friend that he thinks he's helping. If you can't manage your own profile on a dating site, maybe you shouldn't have one. Anyway, he was managing his buddies profile, and he ends up meeting a great girl. Again the problem is he's been lying to her. It gets a little crazy in the middle, and you wonder how Abe is going to recover. We meet Skylar. She's looking for love, and thought she found it with JB, but when she meets him she realize he's a douche. How can there be great chemistry on screen, but not in person.

One of my guilty pleasures is Catfish. If you haven't seen you have to see season one, episode one. In essence we have a catfishing story, but Abe doesn't realize this. Fabulous. Abe is adorably clueless on what he has done. I love how Skylar calls him out on his stupidity. What makes this story is the messaging going between them. Overall, I liked The Lying Hours. I like how Sara focuses on the couple of the story. You occasionally characters from the previous book, but they aren't the main part of the story. If you are in the mood for silly college drama, you might want to give this a try.
